Are large sized women not allowed to wear pantyhose?

Today was senior's day at our local Shoppers Drug Mart and I decided that I needed to buy some neutral pantyhose. I already had some black pair and that cost an arm and a leg, and got it at the Superstore. But I not like that brand that much, and they did not have the shade I wanted so since it was Thursday, I would get a pair at my favorite drug store. Well guess what they advertised 5x, and I am nowhere near that size (of course there was none there, but there was none in 1x or 2x either. NOW 1X is for ladies who are around 200 lb. The 2x size goes up to 250 lb if you have skinny legs and 215 if you do not. I figure they plan to shame us into losing weight but not stocking any pantyhose in plus size. Well I am losing weight so what shall I do go for gastic surgery, or what slacks on Sunday?

I have stoped wear those a long time ago. I'm not really over weight any morebut they are just too hard to get on with my arthritis. I have noticed that several of the ladies at church don't wear them ether. Beside they always give me a stomach ache. Who checks our legs any unless we very young and wearing short dresses.

A lot of the younger ladies were slacks, but when you are in your sixties and have been brought up to wear skirts and dresses, when it gets cold, you do not go without stockings or pantyhose. It would be very cold if I went without something on my legs. Even if I wore a skirt that went way down to my ankles, if it is 40 below that it gets here, it would not work and even the tights do not come in large sizes here.

I was thinking of wearing slacks to church. I know many of the younger women do, and it does get cold. I can get away with bare legs when it is warmer and I can wear sandals, but in winter it does get too cold.

suspenseful here in ca the older women all wear slacks so just do that , as you will soon appreciate the warmth they will give you. I dont wear them as I am really obese and would look awful in slacks but a lot of people my size do wear slacks. I also was brought up to wear skirts and dresses but here if you do you stand out like a sore thumb fashion wise, not that I care much about fashion. just thinking of you in that cold climate. surely you can find slacks in 1x and 2x.lane bryant has an internet store where their sizes go up to 5x and 6x in slacks and dresses. try them.

I sort of expanded, but it seems that I have this rear end. It used to be my tummy, but since I cut out trans fat, that shrunk.

I have these wide hips and unless the slacks are fit well and made well, they donot look good on me and they have to be a color that matches.

Isn't it amazing, with all the larger people in the world, you would think they would have plenty of larger clothes for both men and women.

I have to go to a specialty shop to buy bras that fit, dresses that fit, skirts and slacks to fit as I am not only large boned, I am also under 5 feet four and I am quite shapely. My stomach does not fit way out, I have a large bosom, and I do have hips and are rear end and most of the large sized in the regular stores are for ladies who are longer wasted and have no hips and no waist. So their clothes look designed for a big tree trunk upside down. I might have to get the pantyhose there as well. The only thing I do not like are the bras, they fit, but I hate underwire.

I wear long or short skirts, no pantyhoes. If I was meant to wear the damned things, I'd be able to find ones that fit me. I'm not going to be ashamed of going with my legs bare.

I do not wear pantyhose in the summer, fall, or spring, but in winter or when it starts to get cold, I wear them for church. Well because then it is too cold to wear sandals. I have a choice either I have my feet freeze or my ankles rub against the back of my heels

My body is weird, I wear large underwear but I am comfortable with queen leggings. Go figure. I am wearing pants all the time now, and will wear leggings when it gets colder, it is all about the comfort with me.

I have to look for some slacks. I have lost a bit of weight so I will have to go to a smaller size, but right now my budget will be a bit tight (no pun intended) it being near Christmas and two birthdays are coming up. It does seem more practical to wear what they used to call, pant suits for Church, but I have to get used to it, as I have always worn dresses or skirts.

I really hate shopping. Right now I am getting ready for Church and I had to make two pairs of pantyhose into one. I am sick and tired of doing that and either they are too large, or they think I have fat legs and skinny tops.

well my thinking is if they had as many clothes to fit the larger people in this world as much as they do diet items we would all be comfortable and have nice things to wear. But guess they couldn't make as much money as they do now with all the diet crap that never works.

I know what you mean. The kind that really works I am allergic to, and the kind that is only just a little faster then doing it on your own, I am not. If only they would have some nice clothes in the color I like, I would be happy. And do you know when I do find something it is either the size smaller or the next sized larger? Drives me crazy.

I doubt it. I mean there are lots of plus sized women, but the store should have anticipated it and no plus sized woman goes hog wild and buys the whole lot. They just did not want plus sized women to look nice, so they only bought a few.

I can't stand pantyhose they never fit me right and it feels like I have to do some kind of strange dance just to get into the little things. What I do is wear tight leggings the kind that have no feet and they are about mid calf I just hike them up if they go past my skirt and then for footware I always wear comfy shoes so usually I can get away with wearing nice socks or just slip on some mules. I always go for comfort and color co-ordination.

There is only one brand that I like and I never can find them unless at Walmart. I do not like wearing socks except with slacks. We have these Hutterites that come into do their shopping at Walmart and they were full skirts and dresses and socks, and to me it looks rather their husbands think them as little girls, because when I was a teenager, one of the signs that you were growing up was that you wore stockings or pantyhose rather than socks with your dresses or skirts.

I had to go look up the group of people you reffered to, interesting bunch. For me I really don't care what people think of the way I'm dressed, if they are gonna judge me on my outward appearence then they are not worth knowing. I also dress for comfort I have very bad feet and they don't like pantyhose because it makes my feet slip around in my shoes no matter how tight the shoes are. Walmart seems to have good products, it's where I bought my leggings I like so much.

It is sort of cold right now to go barelegged. Why I cannot even find leggings now in my size and I do not want to wear slacks on Sundays. The rest of the week is fine, but I want to dress nice today.

I never knew that larger women have trouble getting pantyhose. Have you had a look online? There must be somewhere that stocks your size!

The only place we are sure of them is in the large sized shops like Additionelle, and Penningtons and also in Walmart. We can get them online, but you have to factor in shipping and handling. They are usually priced an extra two dollars in the stores and you want me to pay shipping and handling on top of that plus our pst and gst as well?

It is as almost that only the smaller women or the ones that are not overweight can wear pantyhose, and the large sized women here in Canada cannot. Yet there are loads of them here. I see lots of women who are larger than I am and I am no means skinny.

Actually in Canada we sell pantyhose and they do sell large sized. We go from A to D, A being for the petite small woman, D for the large tall woman of average size. If you are overweight, then there is the X sizes, 1x means you are just a little overweight, 2x a little more, 3 to 5x is that you are really overweight. NOw it may be that they want to make sure everyone loses weight, but in some cases if you are large boned, you may have to take the 1x or the 2x sized even though you are not fat. Maybe you do not want women who are 200 lbs or close to it to wear pantyhose or get out of the house. Is that why you say there is no such thing as pantyhose for large sized women because you do not want them to look nice?

There are places where you can purchase pantyhose that will fit. Unfortunately they will cost a bit more than the ones that can be purchased from a store. I stopped wearing hose long ago. Why bother. Get a can of spray on color if you really need to have color to your legs. I don't even do that.

hi, i think i bought nylons once at shoppers because i needed them for church that night or whatever, but like you, i paid an arm and a leg. if and when i need nylons, i shop at walmart! they are way cheaper. while i like shoppers, i mainly only shop there for the ponts (i have $30 in points now which i will use for christmas!) oh, and their sales, they just had a few bins with $1, $2 marked on them and i managed to get a few things for christmas.

I do not wear pantyhose in summer, spring or fall when the temperature is above normal. But when it gets to around 40 then my legs are too cold and on Sundays, you are expected to wear a skirt or dress unless you have kids and you really do not have a very good dress to wear.

I wore pantyhose all my life- didnt even own a pair of pants until 7th grade and we couldn't wear pants to school anyway until 9th grade per school rules. THen I was just liking skirts better anyway so i wore skirts all the time. Later as older - still skirts only to most places and pants never to church. Panty hose even under slacks when I did wear them. 3inch heels were like sneakers to me. Now much older than before - and with my bit of weight problem due I can't find skirts that fit without looking like potato sacks and me the potatoes so I don't wear them now. However....it would be a big help if my other problem could be solved..... My problem is the other end - finding blouses to fit 40DD but average elsewhere. The item is not made! Then last night I happened to be on a channel for some odd reason, as I never watch this junk - Inside Edition - did you see it? THis woman from Brazil has had you-know-what implants to make her currently a 34FFF. Yes you read that right. She admits her goal is 38KKK. But implants more than what she has is apparently illegal in Texas where she has been having it done - or at least that is what I understood - I was so thrown that she was that large by choice and nothing else to spend her money on - even her 9 yo son - and was working on spending more to get bigger. i started to say "where does she buy her bouses?" but then noticed that the blouses she had on were not covering enough to hardly bother with wearing...so she can't answer my question!

I always wore skirts and blouses and dresses when I was young and the only time I wore pants was when we were going camping and were going to get dirty. I do my dress shopping at Additionelle and Pennington's and you might be able to get a blouse for someone amply endowed on the top And they have dresses for the large petite. I wear a double D and I find that when I go to the regular stores, the blouses do not fit. It they are large on top at that part, they are too large and I have to roll up the sleeves. It is too bad they did away with the half sizes. And that woman should have gotten arrested.

Canada is the worst for larger sizes of clothes, it is not just a problem for women but for men too. I used to go into Walmart and you would think I could find something to fit in the men's department but the largest they stocked was XL, and these are offshore XL which tend to be smaller than Canadian made XL. So there was nothing at all except a dozen or so quilted shirts in the whole department that would have fit. I need at least a 2X or 3X and I am not that huge, about 210 or so at almost 5 ft 11 in. I have heard several women go to the States to shop because they can find the larger sizes there. Apparently the chain stores seem to be ignoring the large men and women and considering over half the population is either obese or fat you would think they would want to sell to the public that is rather than just the skinny public. I think there is incredible prejudice against fat people and it also manifests itself in the clothing industry.

You should see the styles of clothes and the colors. I have to go to Additionelle and Penningtons to buy my clothes. I can get sandals at Walmart, but that was only this year. Before they never had good leather sandals and as for regular shoes, I might have to go to Quarks or Nautalizer and I do want a good pair of boots. I am naturally large boned, and I prefer the Secret brand of pantyhose. There should be many of them in 1x since I am just bordering on obese and I do not look it. But can I find them. Do they want me to go on a crash diet and get sick?
