Justice after 25 years. Is this justice?

A prison warden was framed and suffered severe violence to admit that he was the culprit behind the escape of two prisoners. AFter 25 years the court ruled in his favour. Do you think that it is justice? It has taken too long! The Nationalist Party has welcomed the fact that justice has been made with former prison warder Anthony Mifsud. The party noted that justice came long years after Mr Mifsud, who had been blamed for the escape of two prisoners, had been beaten up and tortured at the police headquarters in June 1982, when the country was run by a Labour government.

That completely sucks that a prison warden was framed and suffered severe violence until he admitted he was the one behind the escape of two prisoners,,and it is hard to believe that after twenty five years the court ruled in his favor, and I do not think that is justice, because that is twenty five years of his life that he can not get back, since he was punished for a crime he did not commit, and I hate it when innocent people get blamed for something they did not do,and then the court thinks that letting them out of a prison with a sorry is justice, and I think they should have compensated that prison warden in someway.

There is no justice indeed for this man, even though he was finally vindicated of this crime. He has literally lost 25 years of his life, his family has suffered, his future ruined...all because of corrupt administrators and law-keepers. The state should make up to him for all this loss. If I were him, I'd sue the police for the wrong done to me. The least the courts should do now is to haul to court the people responsible for this guy's wrongful accusation, torture and confinement, and put them behind bars instead. That will not bring back what this warden has lost, but at least he will feel some justice is still there in the due process of the law.

Thanks for giving me your vote. The last I read about Anthony Mifsud was that he was very bitter about being wrongfully accused and was seeking compensation through the Attorney General but I don't think he was getting any success. He also instituted a court case against 3 police officers who beat him up at the depot while in custody. Poor victim this man is...we can only sympathize with all the injustice he suffered.

Hi ronldinu, no my friend this is not justice, he has probably suffered a lot over the past 25 years and no one can give him back that time. Did he also spend time in prison and will he get any compensation? There is really no way that there can be justice in a case like this, but it happens everywhere. I hope that Mr. Mifsud can live out the rest of his life in peace. Blessings.

It was a blatant frame up. He was confined for 3 years in solitary cell. He has suffered 65% from psychological damage. He has to take medication up till his end of life. His phsique is damaged for life. Notwithstanding this he has forgave those police officers involved in the frame up.

No I don't think it is fair. But they say justice is blind. I guess this means it can be slower than a snail too.

What a shame that it took him 25 years to see his freedom. For someone to have that taken away for something that they DIDN"T do, is a horrible thing. I wonder if he fought for this so called justice the whole entire time he was locked up. I mean I wouldn't expect for someone to have fought harder than him for his own freedom. But like everything else in life, there are perks and there are loop holes. Some people fall short of getting true justice handed to them.

This would still be considered justice for me. We can't turn back time, that's a fact. This guy has lost too much valuable time which cannot be replaced. Twenty five years is such a long time, I'm 25 and it was a long time for me. The thing is, he was acquitted, and would not suffer much longer. People who are wrongfully accused should be given due compensation.

25 years of his life gone for no fault of his own. This is just miserable. I dont know whether that warden is feeling happy or sad at this moment. All those years when he could have been with his family, enjoying all the little things of life, snatched away because of incompetent police enquiry. His own people at that.! Getting justice after so many years is the biggest drawback of a country. All countries should try to set up fast track courts to judge, otherwise its the same all over the world. its sad but true.

THere's never justice in this world.. ANd those whom believed in it or strictly adhere by it, are usually the police.. haha So there is no justice in the world at all.. There are ciminals whom are supposed to be jailed but in the end they are freed.. And those ple whom are supposed to be innocent, ended up in jail.. JUst looking in a general term like this, many will know that there's not justice in the world..

Justice delayed is justice denied. How can they restore the wasted 25 years of that warden? Imagine not only the lost time but also the humiliation and agony he suffered for a crime he did not commit? He spent 25 years in prison. That 25 years could have been otherwise used up in a productive endeavor that could have improved the life of the warden. Poor warden, he really is a victim of delayed justice! How could he be paid for theloss and injustice?

No, it is not true justice but, unfortunately, the world is not perfect and there are challenges that we must face in our lives. I guess that was his challenge, although I could not imagine going through that, at least he finally had his name cleared.

justice delayed is Justice Denied. 25 years in ones life is a too long period to suffer. money will not compensate for the time he lost. also those responsible for framing him are to be tracked down and brought to justice.

Justice equal to fair. When you place the wrong things on the wrong place, it's been called unfair already. This case is same. When innocent people being put behind the bar and in addition being tortured, that's not fair. And the justice is not in there even you freed him after 25 years. To get the justice back, the real criminal must be captured and jailed.

I heard a similar story about a guy that was convicted of child rape and imprisoned for 15 years when he was in fact innocent. This was before DNA testing and evidence was accepted in the courts and it was DNA that freed him. I certainly do not believe it is justice, especially in his case. He was beaten numerous times, partly because that's how prison is and partly because of his supposed crime. Many times he had to stay in isolation because of it. To lose 15 or more years of your life to false accusations is just not right, to say the least!

No my friend it is not justice but if he has a good attorney he can sued the authorities for the 25 years of income loss and come out of it better than he imagine. Such is the Justice of Law in the countries that are not properly manage. These things happen a couple of times in my country and person received compensation at the cost of the tax payers. It is sad though that this man was wrongfully accused while the culprits has develop a well meaningful life. All the best Kerry

that is very unfair. He suffered for 25 years and then was today he was not guilty. I mean his life has been taken way from him. I mean his job is gone and he will have hard time getting another one also. Life will be harsh for him. he deserves a lot of money but nothing can make up for time.

25 years before no body knows that person was innocent or not . this is how gov. and law works so i will say its fair that at last now every body knows he is innocent. and he got his respect back in the society.
