Anne Rice's latest book a memoir on her return to Catholicism. Rice wants to be in "the service of God," she says. New book has mixed reviews; "literary equivalent of waterboarding," said one. Many fans hope for return to vampire books, but it's not going to happen. Are you a fan of her books? Will you give this one a shot or pass it by because it doesn't continue the Vampire Chronicles? http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/books/10/31/books.anne.rice.ap/index.html

I liked the original books. I can't fault a person for returning to their religious roots. In her early works, she had faith problems. Now, she seems to be returning. The last book of hers I read was the one with Mnemnoc the Devil or some such. I don't blame her for changing her view, but the book was set in the same world as her Vampire books and.. well, the god/faith issue was strikingly different. It seemed jarring and incongruent. I didn't like it.

I adore books about vampires, and other fantasy things right now I am reading a bunch of books called Silhouette Nocturne and it is books about vampires, witches, werecats, werewolves, fairies and all kinds of fantasy things so to lose a great writer like this just because of her belief is going to hurt alot of her reader who are fans of her books.

I have never heard of her before. I am not much of a reader either though. It does sound interesting.

I have never really been a fan of her books. I don't think I have read any of them. I have a brother who likes them. I am sure he will be disappointed.

Passing by the book would have absolutely nothing to do with it "not continuing the Vampire Chronicles" I've never been much fond of Anne Rice as a person, she's far too full of herself. Some of the books in the Vampire Chronicles were quite good though (my favourite was the Vampire Armand--I love books set in old Italy, and I love vampires, and hence my pleasure). But I really don't read books to get preached at. And certainly, it's easy to see that her target audience was never Catholic.
