why WHITE?

Maybe it is their favorite color? Why not catch a ghost and ask him or her? Do they have a gender, by the way? Jokes apart, I feel ghosts are white because they are a nice figment of human imagination. ;) If they were real, they ought to be as fond of colors as we are, oughtn't they? After all, even ghosts were alive once. LOL!! Where did this question pop from? Cheers and happy mylotting

hi! hahah thats a good question. maybe because they are just spirits and our perception of spirit is white. but I also heard that there are black ghost. they say they are the bad one. so we call the ghost white if they dont do something bad. take care

they also have the black evil shades while the good spirits according to me are in white dress.these are the shades of the other world which is very much different from ours. I like painting and when i make such kind of a theme i ususally use black ,white and blue colours which have a ghostly affect on the viewer...and bring creeps too. these colours suit the situation.

I am not really sure. I never gave that much thought. I wander about this also now.

lol =D Because ghost normally appears during the night, and thus, only being in white, can be clearly seen by all others, because it's the brightest color of all.. lol =D If not, ghost are the angels of the underworld and thus they are always dressed in white.. hehe =D Juts like the same questions asked, why must angels be white?? Because they are pure and innocent?? BUt how about just borned babies?? They are pure and innocent too, but they are not white.. lol

i guess to make them visible in the middle of total darkness? lol!!!

It seems to me that they are more like light, I think people say white just because it's the easy way to define them. Myself I think they would be more like faded pictures with the light shinning through. I've never seen one but i have felt like there was someone just behind me in certian areas of our old house.

why? simple answer: as doctors of human soul, they have to wear something which brings out their authentic dignity and makes humans feel respect for them;P besides, white is more discernible when dark, a pragmatic approach so what's the correct combined answer? those idealistic beings show their somewhat pragmatic approach towards life by wearing white suits, bring out the appropriate mood of respect in humans;)

Hi Cottonm! I think that ghosts are always white or dressed in white because that is the way they are portrayed in movies and on TV. I've watched a few non-fiction shows on the topic and those who claim to have seen spirits or ghosts usually seem to descibe them as black or dark shadows. That would be my guess.
