Ic didn't watch any news this morning yet because I was out voting with my grandkids, then we went for breakfast. But I have the TV on now and haven't seen any coverage yet. I only get ABC,CBA and NBC through antenna. They promis to start when the polls close at 7:00pm. In my opinion every election that we have is very important for it's time.

Good thought. New problems and issues arrive all the time. Now is the time for everything. So any election in its time is essential. It all builds to the next year and the next year...

Thanks deebomb...and Ambiepam...and of course, I am so late in responding & we all know the results now....but our coverage was even on at 3 p.m. as some of your polls on the East Coast had already closed! I just wished the Canadians, all of them would look at themselves, and feel bad, when we see the voter turn-out you had in the U.S. Our voter turn-out for our Federal election...pathetic..in one word. My gosh, I think it is such a priviledge to be able to vote! And what's even more intriquing as your election turned out so many young people. I bless you for exercising your right. Cheers!

Considering the state of our economy it's definitely one of the most important elections, since the time of the type of Media coverage we have now.

I certainly see what you are saying! Don't forget the trickle down effect, being such a super power, you have affected the economy globally! I guess my point in making such a supercilious statement was that we had just completed our Federal Election for the Prime Minister of Canada....and there was hardly media coverage! And our voter turnout was the lowest in history! On second thought, I think that if our election might have followed the US...we may have had better voter turn-out, way less complacency! Thanks for responding! Cheers!

Your right I didn't hear much at all regarding your election, sad isn't it. I also agree with you that if you election was after ours maybe your turn out would have been better. Regards

thank god that I live so far far away in a remote small island. I could switch off to another television station without being bombarded by the US election. Not that I did not take interest in what is going on but sometimes the media really gives us an over dose of politics. The same thing happens when there is a general election in my country. The two months preceding the election we would be living like in a hot seat. Everybody is talking about politics.... (c) ronaldinu 2009 - the more people I meet-the more I love my dog

Would be interesting to know what your political process is? We have just made history in Canada having our minority government prerogued! (Elected govt. stands down, with permission of the Governor General for a period of time) Now, we are faced with one of two situations....the three parties that received the least votes form a coalition..and we are governed by them, even tho we didn't vote for them (or vote them in)....or we have another election (just had one Oct. 14/08) and hope that a majority party is elected, so that it can't be de-railed again!

In my lifetime I guess it is. I think the election back in 1980 was certainly up there on the scale of importance (although I was born in 1981). What with the Cold War and the Wall finally being torn down in Germany. The successful end of all that junk was brought on by the 1980 election when Reagan was brought into office. It's hard to think of that election now as near as important as this one. So yeah, I'd say since 9/11 the importance of our elected officals have been ratched up a notch. Since that terrorist attack everything counts more than it ever has before. It makes the Cold War and the Berlin wall seem insignifcant now.

Yes, this election of your's will certainly go down in the annals of time! I don't ever remember (& I am older than you, my girl) so much hype! Course, there was all the excitement of the mix, too....Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama...AND SARAH! Looking back at it tho, those events...the Cold War, the Berlin Wall were as significant in their day.....as the "wow" events of today! I am just wondering if the current President hasn't got us all in so deep, that in one term, Obama will not be able to mend all the broken fences. After all is said & done...I do applaud the general populace for your massive voter turn out! Is your state Dem. or Rep. Cheers!
