yes, laptops can be repaired they do this and then resale them as refurbished. Take it to any place that works on computers making sure they work on laptops too.
You are in a jam. I'd just try to see about getting it fixed.

I just remembered if the laptop is not old and still under warantee you may want to let your boss know what happened so he can get a new one or they may fix it under the warantee.

Hey,
Yes your keyboard can easily be fixed, but it may cost a fair amount of money. Hmm, my Dad also had his caps lock key broken, and now he lost it lol. Happy Lotting!

I think it is better to check with your supplier. And better still if you have your own personal technician.

I think it can be repaired. I am presuming that you have already dealt with it? How did you go? Is it fixed? Does you boss know?

Yikes! I do hope it can be repaired. I do hope that the boss doesn't take it out of your pay. Some bosses can be like that so I am hoping you have a very understanding boss. If I were you I would have a local computer place check it out to see if it can be fixed.

A colleague of mine had a minor motorcycle that resulted in major damage to his laptop. The local Acer outlet repaired it for him. It was insured. so the insurance company paid. I believe it was very expensive, but cheaper than providing a replacement.

Well, I didn't actually drop my Sony laptop, but the hard drive went and I fitted a new one myself. It was very fiddly and I had to be very careful how I took it apart and make notes how it went back together again, but I did work again. They are not so easy to repair as desktops, which I have done many times, probably due to the fact that everything in them is so packed in a small space. I wouldn't try it unless you are prepared that something could go wrong.

Of course laptops can be repaired, if not why will they come with a warranty when we buy them?? lol =D SInce it's still workable, then it's not spoiled.. ONly the letter k is missing, so just paste it back on.. lol =D
And u are very lucky that with such a heavy shelf dropping on the laptop, only the letter k is affected, and i'm also wonder, is yuor laptop opened or closed when the shelf drop?? If it's open, the screen will be broken for sure.. But if the laptop is closed, how did the letter k come out then?? lol

For sure it can be repaired but it is better for you to just buy new keyboard anyway it does not cost that much. Or if you really wanna save you can buy second hand keyboard for your laptop but make sure the second hand is still good. But next time make sure you put your laptop far from any shelf to avoid the same mishap. Ha!ha!ha!

Thats so bad. I'm sorry for that. That depends where you are. Yes laptops can be repaired and the amount of time for that depends if there is a service center for your laptop in your area. It's as simple as replacing the keyboard and of course some troubleshooting if your laptop doesn't have any other loose part from the accident. Just tell your boss the truth. Don't try to make things up like they do in the movies it's quite useless and will still get your a$$ kicked one way or another. Tell your boss like it happened and get it over with. The longer you linger on thinking about what to do the more you get a headache. Brace yourself for whatever happens, it may not be so bad, but that depends entirely on what your boss is made of. But that's life, we all end up working for someone else, and we get payed to be yelled at in most cases. But don't worry, these things can be fixed. My laptop's keyboard can be detached from the case if you know how to do it yourself. But if it's under warranty, let the experts do it. Most newer models of laptops nowadays are easier to fix than the antiquated ones. Cheers!!!

The button has a tiny "legs" in the bottom of it. If the "legs" is not broken too, then you can put the button back into the location. If already broken, then I'm afraid you must have to change the whole new keyboard. By the way, it is an accident right? if you explain it clearly to your boss then I believes he's will not be mad. Good luck to you.

My key for " and ' is missing but I can still use it. I just have to press in the right spot in the middle. My granddaughter did me the "favor" of breaking it. I still have the parts but since I can still use it, I have not bothered. I also have a few keys that the writing wore off and if you want to know what key it is, you have to know how to touch type, lol.
