Who is the best child actor?

It seems that the only child actors that we ever hear about are the miley cyruses and vanessa hudgens of hollywood. Admist all this tween mania for teenage girls dressing and acting beyond their age you forget that there are some really amazing child actors out there who do not have to use scandal and themselves to sell their art. One of my personal favourits is Dakota Fanning. Her performances are stunning and far beyond her maturity level. Has anyone seem any of her performances? If not, do! When I see her perform I understand that there are people who are born with incredible gifts. She is one of them~!

I definitely agree with you that Dakota Fanning is an amazing actress for someone that is so young. Hse has been in many movies now and has always proven herself to be professional way beyond her years. I only just saw a TV show ehere she was being interviewed withe the cats of a movie she has recently co-starred in (I think it was called "The secret life of bees" or something?) and she carried herself with a tremendous amount of maturity. Her fellow co-stars had very positive things to say about her to. She has a very bright future ahead of her.

Yes she does. I can't wait to see that movie. I can't believe she just started high school... and proper high school too not just home schooling. How much can these kids fit into their lives!!

I think one of the best child actors is the cabin boy (Brendyn Bell) who sings at the start of Pirates of the Caribian: At World's end. I loved his voice and expressions so much! Despite his age, the acting and singing was excellent :D

Yes, it was a very haunting and gripping start to the movie. I haven't really seen him anything else though. Is he establishimg him self as an actor or singer or was that just a one off?

Yes it was, I don't know if he is going to move forward in his acting career or not, but I certainly hope he does! I'd like to see him play bigger parts too. :)

I like Dakota Fanning an awful lot. But she hasn't been able to avoid all controversy. She did a film when she was 12 that required her to film a scene of her being raped. A lot of people had trouble with a 12 year old girl having to act in scenes so explicit. She's a wonderful actress, and at least she hasn't done anything OFF camera to cause a stir. She has a wonderful future in front of her. As does Abigail Breslin. You might already know who she is. She has been in the movies: Signs (she was the little girl who always said the water tasted funny), Little Miss Sunshine, Definitely, Maybe, and that Kit Kitterage: an American Girl movie based on the books and dolls. I haven't seen all those movies, but I've seen her on a couple TV shows, and a few other movies. She has a bright future ahead of her as well.

It's funny that although the movie caused so much controversy, it didn't even get picked up by a distributor. And it got horrible reviews. If it was my child I would not have let her do the scenes. But I'm not her parents, and I have no idea of her true maturity level. Surely they would never do anything to harm her psychologically.

Yeah I remember the conterversy that caused. Do you think it was inappropriate or artistic? I haven't seen the movie to comment. I was a little shocked when i first heard but I get the feeling her parents are very responsible and strict with her. For example, on an interview in Oprah she said she doesn't even get pocket money and its completely believeable coming from her as shes not sitting there with a louis vutton bag. You should watch litte miss sunshine. It is an amaing movie! Abigail is good but I think its through good rehearsal not just the natural flair Dakota appears to have. I think I'm just a Dakota fan!

I love dakota fanning. She is amazing in everything she does. And if you watch her interviews she does on other shows, shes very professional, polite, smart, etc. She is really taking her job seriously and is amazing at what she does, while being humble and down to earth. Shes by far the best child actor that has come around in a long time.

I think your talking about Haley Osment. He is also a serious actor whose skills sell his name as opposed to controversy. I loved him in the movie pay it forward. It was beautiful. I want to read the book now.

I am not a fan of precocious child actors and they generally seem to grow up to be freaks or losers with an odd exception. I think child actors should be strictly controlled. I guess it is a fact of life that the tweenies have their stars as the entertainment industry has found an ready and marketable audience. These entertainers tend to have a short shelf life though, as long as they realize their fame will not last, I guess I have little problem with it.

I know what you mean. But I think the only child actors we hear about are the ones that play up and utilise thier new found fame. I'm sure its very difficult going through such intense public scrutiny and acquring that much wealtha and part taking in the extremely competitive movie industry at such a young age. I think its terrible that these young childer do seem to be somewhat exploited in order to tap into the tween industry. They are given far more responsibility than they can handle and are expected to act in an adult manner while still undertaking heavy schedules to promote themselves. There are some child actors though that have made the transition into good adult actors. e.g. kirsten dunst (jumanji...i thought that was a very scary children's movie!).

As soon as I saw the title the only name that came to my mind was Dakota Fanning. That girl in Bridge to Terabithia and Because of Winn Dixie is also really good though.

I commend Dakita Fanning, she is great in I am Sam and in UPTOWN Girls. Dakota knows the emotions in everything written in the script. She may not as fancy looking as the Disney-discoveries but she really is great.

Yes, but I guess everyone has their scandals. Remember when there was that uproar because she shot a movie in which she was in that scene (at age 12)? People were targetting her parents arguing for children's rights. O.k. this is worded very funny but I'm not allowed to post words of too mature a content unless I change my settings.

Nobody is as good as Dakota Fanning as a child star. She is one actor who can stand in front of Tom Cruise and steal the whole show from him. She always looked like a pro and is very natural and gifted in front of the camera.

I would have to agree that Dakota Fanning would be my choice for the best child star out there right now. She is mature for her age and she is fantastic in all her roles in movies.
