this may be icky but...do you flush the toilet at your home after every pee?

I know this may sound icky for some, but in our bedroom's toilet, which I practically use the whole day because I stay at home, I don't flush it every time I pee. After all, I am the only one using it. My husband comes home by the end of the day. When the pee is clear, it may take up to 4 sessions before I flush it (I pee very frequently). I pee about every 30 minutes. Just imagine how much water I would be using if I flush everytime I do it! But there are times when the pee is not clear, then I would flush it immediately. do you also do this in order to save on water and your water bills? does this concern you? i am curious as to how many people agree with me. take care and God bless you all! :-D

Hi spoiled, hahahhaha..I am like you, I am also staying in the house most of the time and I also pee often and like you when it is clear, I will not flush it, I will wait until it is yellowish already so that I can save some water! LOL!

... and i have to rewrite the answer again, because my damn browser gave me an error :( Since you're the only one using the toilet, it seems logical to pee without flusing, if the pee is clear. It can actually be better since it's a known fact that pee acts like a disinfectant (clearer, the better). And you additionally save some water. As for me, since i live in a house of 4 and we have only one toilet, and because i eat mostly junk food (problems with the pee colour), i flush the toilet every time i'm using it. Keep up the good work and do not hesitate to start any more icky discussions ;)

yeah, i think it is really a matter if you are not the only one using the toilet. as the next user may feel offended. but if it is only you, and you use it most of the time, there really is no need. but if you use the toilet in the morning and come back at night, then it is best to flush it because that will really smell! lol

While urine can be considered sterile, it can pick up bacteria on its way out from contact with external surfaces. The use as disinfectant is not really established, it might be useful in certain conditions but I would not use is as a routine disinfectant. Ever hear of a urinary tract infection? That means bacteria growing in a urine environment.

LOL! Did you actually do that? I guess you do that all the time and I see that you have your own reasons on doing that. To me, it is your house and if you are comfortable with that and you are not causing any discomfort to anyone else and on top of that you could save water and money, go ahead and do it. As for me, I normally flush as I do not live alone and even when I am alone, I would still flush after every usage. I guess, in my case, I would not feel at peace if I didn't flush a toilet after usage and I do that in my house and everywhere else after using a toilet. To be honest, I could not stand dirty toilet. For example, if I were to go to public toilets and I would always look for the one that is reasonable clean and flushed. If not, I would rather hold it unless it is a total emergency such as, a case of diarrhea... Anyway, have a happy weekend and do not forget to flush before your husband comes home ya. Cheers!

Oh no no! It's a must for me and it's my rule that after peeing, you should flush the toilet. I don't want some unwanted smell in our toilet.

Yes that is a good idea to save water. Every flush uses about 13 liters unless you have one of the newer low flush toilets. In some areas of the world they have dual flush toilets to save water. If you are peeing every hour or so that is a lot of water saved. For esthetic reasons you are still flushing, not like you leave it for days until it smells. If everyone did the same thing there would be an incredible amount of water saved.

I have to admit that I do not flush the toilet every time I pee! In my defence though, the only time I DON'T flush it is when it is really late at night or very early in the morning and I am half asleep. I just do the deed and stagger back off to bed. I am being considerate to not wake up my wife so I think I should be safe on this one! lol. It is definitely a good practice to try and save water wherever we can but when it comes to personal waste, I do think it is best to flush. These half-flush toilets make all the difference too.

I do the same, but i really have no choice...I am on tank water (not town water), so I try and save there..If it dosnt rain we dont get any water, and also we are on septic, so a truck has to come and pump out all of the used water... and that is a small fortune that i cannot afford, so i try and stretch it out as long as i can....so if not flushing everytime (unless its something else) saves than im all for it, unless there are other people in the house...

Basically, it really depends on the situation like yours. Personally, I do flush the toilet every time I pee at home. I just feel that it is better to flush the toilet since urine would cause some odor in the water if left unflushed. God speed.

Hi There. Yes, we flush our toilets after using it. My parents told us to always flush the toilet after using it. That is the rule! And I like that since it's for hygene and cleanliness. We don't mind the water running the toilet as long as we maintain our bathroom/toilet clean and tidy. Cheers! Happy Mylotting!

I usually flash the toilet every time I use it to pee. With you, I think that's the way of saving water too because flashing toilet all the time does not conserves water. As long as it does not stinks and the only people using the toilet is the people inside the house, it does not matter.

We have had considerable difficulty with rainfall where I live over the past few years, and our dams are all down, and water rates have risen in response. So no, we don't. Saves water and money. I had a girlfriend once who lived in Jamaica for a while, and there was a little rhyme they used there: "in this land of fun and sun, we do not flush for number 1". Lash

In my house it gets flushed every time during the day (unless of course you are my husband- I think he is allergic to flushing). At night when my girls get up to go to the bathroom they never flush- the sound scares them at night. haha My sister put it this way- if it's brown flush it down, if it's yellow let it mellow. Too funny.

HAHA :P I always flush after, as there are like eight people living in my house at the moment. IF I don't flush, e.g in the early morning, my family get really aggy at me me, and that, I could do without thankyou XP Good show on saving water though lolz XPP I think it all depends on where you live and WHO you live with XP If you do it during the day when your husband isn't home, it's okay I think, after all, he doesn't know does he XP Oh, and if you don't flush it for a why, doesn't it get stinky? o.O Bye y'all :)

I flush the toilet every time I pee, but I try not to press it fully (for some reason I can do that with our toilet bowl), so I save some water that way, too. I understand what you mean, though, about not flushing every time you pee, since you're the only one in the house and then you pee a lot.
