Hello I live in England in a lovely village ,just down the road is a river with boats and a cafe and you can walk for miles seeing all the wildlife. We normally walk to the locks and my kids when they were little used to look forward to getting an ice cream from the van at the lock. We have a village pub and a local school, a local shop and a post office,we are very lucky to still have a post office as so many have been shut down. The trains go to london one way and the coast the other way .The train station is a victorian one with the stone bridge and all the features. For miles around out of each or my windows you can see countryside and farm animals. We are so lucky what is it like around your home,I would be very interested to know.

No suzzy I am from South Africa. My uncle and Maternal Grandmother immigrated to England in the 1960's. As you may know, we were once under British rule, hence we have quite a bit of British influence here. Our province is known as "The Last British Outpost." Oh ! and we have a statue of Queen Victoria in one of the main streets of our town.

Yes we certainly have a good heritage and plenty to see and do in this country.Do you come from USA I have been watching Steven Fry on the tv and he has been going through all the states but he never spends enough time in each one to get a proper look,it looks amazing and so big,it is one of our dreams to hire a mobile home and go across the states one day. We love the Americans over here they really love England like we do and all tourists are very welcome not just for the economy but to share our wonderful country with the world.xxxxx

Dear Jungle I know we have a lot to answer for, but the new generation have a lot of sympathy and we know we have to pay the price of our for fathers and most of us feel deeply ashamed and it would not be allowed to happen these days.

When i was a schoolboy i used to read story books in which the central character was William Brown , a young school boy living in a small village in rural England. All the stories were set during the period of World War 2 and young William and his friends would roam the countryside getting into scrapes somewhat like Dennis the Menace.I do not remember the author`s name but his/her`s description of the countryside was so vivid that i could well imagine it.the rolling fields, the warm summer days passing languidly, the cat sleeping lazily on the compound wall, William and his friends unsuccessfully trying to disloge it by throwing pebbles at it or sitting on the banks of the village pond and throwing pebbles into the water.Your description of your hometown brought back all those wonderful memories and i remember wistfully how i wished i were there in Ole` Blighty. A song comes to my mind, Cliff Richards " We`re all going on a Summer Holiday " which fits the scene perfectly. Unfortunately i live in the very urban Metro city of Mumbai(formerly Bombay) in India and am surrounded by buildings and more buildings. You are very lucky to live a village life yet having all modern facilities.I really envy you and wish i were in your place. If your children haven`t read William Brown`s stories do get them for them.

Just dropping in a line to a fellow Indian…don’t you wish we too could live in the villages like these people? Its so much more healthier and cheaper and stress-free life. But here in India, only the uber rich can afford to have villas in the village for weekend parties and drive in and out of the city in their fancy cars. If ever our villages were all well connected and had everything of good standard, I sure would love to move to a village or at least a relatively quieter town.

I agree with you 100% my fellow indian friend. However the stark truth is that with our horrible infrastructure and other problems living in the countryside is not for the aam admi but as you say only for the filthy rich who have enough money to burn. Why do people from villages rush to urban areas, cities and metros ,only because our political leaders are busy filling their own pockets with the common man`s money and neglecting the welfare of the citizens.

the small river close to my apartment - this is the river which is so close to my apartment. I love to see the river very much. I am very happy that I have the chance to see it every day as it is just down there close to my apartment, about fifty meters away from where I live.
Hello suzzy. It is a nice place where you live. I think that it must be a very beautiful place. Well, I also live in a nice place. The place I live in is a small town, close to the country. My apartment is on the fifth floor, where I can see the small river fifty meters close to my apartment. I can enjoy the beauty of the small river all the year round. Here is the photo I took for you to enjoy. Thank you for your discussion. Good day.

Where you live sounds lovely and I hope to live in that kind of place one day. At the moment we are living in the city in a different country because of my husband work. But the place that I grew up its also nice, we have a lot of fruit tress that I normally climb when I was a child, my mom has wonderful vegetables garden. But we're not close to school, market or shopping malls, but it wont take 20 minutes to get to my school. But its a little bit different now, the trees are gone so as the vegetable garden of my mom.

I am lucky enough to live in a city that is just big enough to be fun and have lots of opportunities but also close enough to nature that it doesn't take long to get there. I live on Vancouver Island, Canada. I have three different parks that are walking distance from my home. I live about a blocka and a half away from the ocean. Two hours from one of the worlds best ski resorts, amazing people, beautiful rain forests and all the ammenities you can think of. Oh, did I mention that we are surrounded by mountains on all sides? I love my home with all my heart and could never imagine living anywhere else. I am a very lucky man!

This seems straight out of Enid Blyton tales or similar other tales reflecting idyllic English countryside with all its pristine beauty and the sea, ever present like a beautiful background tune…to be hummed throughout one’s life. I envy you… As for myself, forget it, who wants to ‘describe’ what its like living in the midst of a crazy bustling, over-populated, cacophonic city?! BTW…I live in Calcutta

Anyway, my location isn't the same as yours it's opposite than yours, We have rented a house in a noisy invironment where lack of ventillation..And were planning to moved out but the main problem was financial. I'm so sorry having this kind of environment, if only i can turn out things right at the moment, i will gonna do so.

From your description you have obvious fondness for the area, and to me it sounds lovely. Some people might say it is boring, as they like the excitement and crowding you get in the big city. I sometimes get overwhelmed in the big city and clostrophobic, I prefer the more rural, small town feel of less populated areas. I live in a small city, not much bigger than a small town that is on two lakes in Canada and in the summer it is beautiful here. There are so many wretched places to live but it sounds like you have a nice one.

You are quite right there are some wretched places to live and we are so lucky ,like you say it would not suit everyone some might call it boring ,but it suits me and mine quite well,On the odd occasion we go to london for a show but I am always glad to get back, we saw people begging in the street and I found that upsetting, the bright lights are lovely but in the morning it is a cold lonely place, I suppose all cities are like that,It sounds idylic where you live how beautiful ,

Northern Ireland - Famous North Antrim coast. Northern Ireland
That sounds a really beautiful place to live. You described it well. I can almost picture it in my head. I live in Northern Ireland in a small town called Larne. It is twenty three miles from Belfast. I moved to Larne nearly three years ago to get away from the city. We can see the sea from our front window and the country side from the side window. They country side is great to live in and so peaceful. I see many animals here that I have never seen before. The town I live in has a few shops, pubs and restaurants. It is very small and the people have made us very welcome. We have a port here also. There is a small beach where I take my daughters on long hot summer days. We live on the gate way to the famous antrim coast. It is just so beautiful here. Maybe you might know or have visited Northern Ireland.

i live in the most beautiful town of Juneau, Alaska. It is surrounded by mountains on every horizon, and we are right next to the pacific ocean. The snow is beautiful on the mountains and it just looks so peaceful. We have a glacier which is so amazing! There are countless rivers, lakes, passages, and waterfalls, and there are so much wildlife such as bears, deer, moose, mountain goats, eagles, ravens, porqupines, wolves, and so much more. In the summer time everything is green as far as the eye can see. Wildflowers spring up everywhere and color the wetlands purple and pink. I believe I have the most amazing hometown. It is by far the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

It is my ultimate goal to move to England one day, for this very reason! The area surrounding your home sounds absolutely lovely. At the moment I live in a neighborhood in Columbus, OH - possibly the most boring city or state in the U.S. However, the area I live in has many houses that were built in the early 1900s and I find that much more pleasant to look at than suburban aluminum sided homes. As we go into the autumn season, I am very much enjoying looking at the leaves falling on the brick walkways. It's just a look I am very fond of, so at the moment I think where I live is beautiful as well.
