I always seem to catch Barack Obama speaking about how he wants to benefit and help the middle class. However, we do not all fall into that tax bracket. I hope that he is going to start considering other classes in America also. All this talk about making a quick impact should have a positive affect on every American. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/09/obama.transition/index.html?e

Well I am what you would call working class. But in NYC the middle class suffers. We can't get affordable housing, cause our salary is too high for that, but my rent is currently over two weeks pay. Just rent alone. Not counting heat, electricity, transportation and health insurance. My friend gets very little pay and is part of the 80/20 program, so she pays very little rent in a doorman building. She gets free healthcare from the state and food stamps to help her out. Well, I say the middle class needs some help!

I think it does depend on what part of the country you live in. Even what part of the state, as far as income and cost of living. I think we probably all need a break.

Maybe it does indeed depend on where you live in the United States. I have been here all my life and have never heard of the lower class living so good.

They do not have it that good where I live, either.

No matter how poor or middle class people are most want to think of themselves as middle class. In other words, many poor people do not want to be called poor. Thus, Obama sees the masses as being middle class. He wanted their vote. So he tried to appeal to them to get it. Seems it worked...really worked.

Yes, the middle class does need some help for sure. When a person who decides to not work even though they might be able too gets handed Free housing, Food Stamps, Medical, etc. where does that leave those of us who work for a living? It only affects us even more as they have to raise our Taxes, etc. and take out more from our checks to continue to help them. When women with children are working and trying to make it on their own are denied any benefits, but people who choose to have kids and want to live off of Welfare are just handed everything with nothing ever questioned or checked, that is Sad. We middle class working people do need a Break for sure without having to hand if off to all of the people here who want everyone to just feel Sorry for them, and not have to do anything to better themselves as well.

Interesting post KrauseHome, Do you know where your taxes are going? They're going to fund some fabricated war to make the wealthy more wealth. Yes, you are middle class as working to survive, but know where your money is going. I was working middle-class until 2007 when I was laid-off and joined the ranks of the poor-class. I had to qualify, wait and struggle before I got any assistance, and I ran out of money just as my assistance kicked in. At least now my small child and I will not be homeless, will have food to eat and she can see the doctor when she needs to. She's actually always been on our state's medical insurance because our former Governor set-up free Medical to all children born in this state. I don't have an outside job and have no plans of getting one for at least another year. Does that mean I don't want anything better for myself? Of course not; I just can't afford daycare and it's not a problem to keep my daughter at home right now, since I am a full-time online student who is pursuing a degree. She'll be old enough to start school next September and I'll probably get a job in October. I understand your bitterness but just know that a lot of people are falling on hard times and are doing the best they can. Even the people who have been on assistance for generations are doing the best they can, because it's all they know. Changing this isn't going to happen overnight, it's something that needs to be learned, and not everyone has a capacity for learning. If you really want to make a differance in this area, try doing some volunteer work so you can reach these people. You'll probalby be surprised at what you find. For now, just feel secure knowing that, if you fall out of the ranks of the middle-class, there are programs out there to help you. Happy MyLotting!

That is very true what about the lower class and the upper class. That is one reason I wasn't sure about him.

One thing that I like about Obama is that he is very positive. But, it would help if he includes everyone in that attitude.

I'd like a break but I'm not sure I'll get one. My husband and I are both able bodied and both hold jobs, although, in California (where we live) our income is barely (if that) keeping us afloat. Our rent sucks up just about all of our income and we push back our bills until we can't push them back anymore. We have one son who will be considered an adult in a couple of weeks but he is still in school and will continue to be in school until he finishes college (if we can afford to send him). Somehow, though.. we are not poor enough for assistance but too poor to make ends meet. We are the "middle class".. I guess, although I feel like I'm in the poor class. I can't afford to buy clothes or healthy food. I work to live and that's it. I can honestly understand why people have killed themselves and I never thought I'd say that. I thought Obama was full of false promises and I still think that. I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel now that's he's our President. He's just like every other politician in this country - in it for themselves. Giving us a few hundred dollars as a part of a stimulus program is like putting a really cheap band-aid on a really huge problem. Give us a few THOUSAND dollars so we can pay our rent, that might make a slight dent, until then... I do not want to hear from Obama. He can go play with his D.C. friends and talk about how he plans on helping this country to people who actually believe his B.S.

To be honest Rozie, there is hardly ANY middle class at this point due to unemployment, our nation being more a consumer nation, NAFTA, and a host of other stuff. You need a middle class in order for this nation to thrive but that is not the case.
