what's the worst thing you learned from your parents that you'll never tech your children? or will make sure your children wont ever do? we've all learned so many good things from our parents, are there any bad ones you'd like to make sure not to pass on to them?

Sure there are (bad ones we learned form our folks). i can name many but the ones that really gets into my nreves is their being so dominant and dictating. As kids its very normal that everything the parents say is absolute. But my folks were so controling before to the point that they even the ones chosing my course in college, and that's one thing I still hate up to now. I felt something has been robed from me. I can site a particular instance when I was in high school when one of my teachers told me to take Journalism course; this was so because she have seen some writing prowess in me and constatly telling me that I have some potential in this field, w/c I also felt then considering the fact that I was writing a lot of good compositions like stories and poems. But my mother (deceased) wanted me to take Public Administration because a cousin was taking that course and she was successful in her job. If I become a parent one thing I promised to myself is to let my children be the best of what they are, specially on decissions that determine their destinies in life. I won't decide for them, I maybe there to give them guidance but never to push them on something against their will.

i know what you mean, though my parents weren't as dominating but i have friends who's parents were like that and they were just so helpless at the time... parents should guide their children and not live their lives for them...thanks and happy thanksgiving!

well i didn't learn this, i refuse to be this way. but my dad will preach to us if you aren't a cathic you aren't nothing, there should only be cathic faith. when he met one of my freind who's not a cathic he was kind rude to her. so i told him that wasn't nice of him, she's a great person. and he try to teach us we should been nice to people even if they disrespect us, but he don't do it he runs them in the ground. to tought my kids, respect all who give respect. no matter what

I learned about going into debt. That is the one thing that I have told my children not to consider. In my opinion there are only 2 reasons to go into debt: 1) for your reasonable priced house or 2) for a good used car.
