What to Wear to a Funeral

There are some that feel black attire is a must at a funeral. I feel it is personal preference. I don't feel comfortable wearing black. It is too depressing. What do you think?

Elusive... You do not have to wear black...Please wear what is going to be comfortable for you.. Don't worry about what others may say...Black is depressing and you want to celebrate his life... I would suggest not wearing that hot pink outfit.....LOL...but other than that the skys the limit... Little humor there for you...Super hugs....and please don't wear black.... Prayers to all of you...

I think Mark would have raised his eyebrows if I wore hot pink. Leather mini would most certainly have him rolling his eyes.

Wear whatever you are comfortable in.....it doesn't have to be black. I think all those old style ways don't pertain anymore.....so wear what you want to and don't worry about what is "supposed" to be!

I love wearing black my friend, but you are right, that's just my personal preference, colours do actually reflect the way you feel, your personality etc, to some black is depressing to others it's a reflection of themselves, it's a colour they feel comfortable in. Black for me is not depressing and I would happy to wear black to any occasion, weddings, parties etc.. In actual fact I don't think I wear enough black attire, I tend to stick with boring blue! When I should be wearing reds and blacks.

I have always wore black because my grandparents raised me and you can see how I became old fashioned. I think any color would be fine but of course I don't think it's appropriate to show up in bright red, flourescent purple or bright orange. I think common sense will apply the right choice.

Black used to be the only thing a person could wear, but any dark color is considered respectful now. At least that's what I've seen here. Take care.

I think you should wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. I think it should be up to each individual person also.

Any somber color is acceptable. I have worn a purple to one furneral, but I knew the person loved purple so I felt it was acceptable, it wasn't a bright vivid color.
