Obama has set up a website for his presidency. It will have current information on what his administration is up to and what is going on in Washington. He is the first president to do this. What do you think about it? It will also have a message board were you can leave your ideas on what is going on. Will you use it?

There is a Presidential website - the website for the White House: http://www.whitehouse.gov/ I think it will probably make people feel good that they can voice their thoughts, but I doubt that he'll actually be reading or responding to them himself!

I hope he doesn't read and respond to all visitors, when would he have time to run the country?

I'm sure there will be those who will think he should respond to them!

He does have more important things to do than read our messages all day. Someone will probly be in charge of seeing what is being said about what bill and then tell someone what the general concensus is.

One, he isn't the first to do this.. as someone already pointed out, there has been a White House website for quite some time. There are also websites for both houses of Congress, each Senator and Congressmember and pretty much every other part of government.

Ya but this is into addition to all of those. I get the feeling he is going to use it to sell his agenda to the public.

I will send a message via his site, as soon as I know what to say and the time feels right (which could be any day now, really). I hear he's been replying to a few messages already, so that's quite positive. What do I think about him making good on what he said about setting up a site to open up a dialogue with the people? Well, I liked the idea when he first talked about it waaay back when. Whether his site completely fills that purpose, we'll have to see. As for it's other role in keeping people informed, I'm somewhat skeptical on this front but it's not entirely a bad idea. We'll see.

Yes, I quite possibly will use it. I hope it's "user friendly" and uses language everyone can understand. If it is, I think it will be quite popular. Annie

I will check it out once he is in office. They said there was not a lot of stuff on it right now. But after he gets in there will be more.

It's probably easier for people to use to find information that is relevant to them, rather than watching the news or scouring papers. I don't really care much for the message board feature, I think it will probably just get clogged with either doey-eyed supporters and nasty malcontents. And if any of those comments are taken off to make it more readable for people (to get to relevant content) people will claim Obama suppresses freedom of speech! But I think creating a website to keep people informed is something that should be done, and is a completely logical step given today's media.

I'm sure if I used the message board to voice the thoughts I have I'd be placed under suspician for insurection. Obama really does not want to hear what I have to suggest to him as it goes against most of the grain of what he stands for. In defense of him, I will say he and I see eye to eye on a few issues, but they are few and far between and the issues I disagrea with him on are profound and far outshadow everything else. No, Obama is not going to like me at all as a political force.
