I have never used paypal as a mode of money transaction. Can someone please tell me how exactly it works? Is the money paid into your account after it is converted into your currency? I would be grateful if someone can give me all the relevant details.please help me out as i need to ask for a payment in another site

You pay and get paid using the emiail addrees you chose when joining Paypal.
That moves 'money' into and out of your Paypal account.
To get money from your Paypal account into your bank account you need the verify who you are to Paypal.
As a test, they send a few cents to your bank account and then later, when you check your statement, you see how much they paid you and then you go into your Paypal account and tell them the amounts. That proves that your bank account is the same as you told PayPal.
Once you are verified you can also get a debit card from Paypal which you can use in ATM 'hole-in-the-wall' machines to draw money out.
So to get paid all you do is tell the other person your Paypal email address.

Paypal is independent of all banks. I just say it is 'like' a bank but it is not truly a bank like the ones you have in your high street. You cannot get a loan or earn interest from Paypal or pay in cheques, for instance.
It is only like a bank in the sense that they hold your money that you earn and you can buy things from other people who also have a Paypal account.

Thank you so much for clearing my doubts.I know i have been a bit slow participating here.I am having problems with my comp, and i have to go to a cyber cafe to log on and browse. As a result i am using the comp only for a limited period.Hopefully things should be okay in a couple of days :)
