Why are there so many people that put fish together that do not belong together

With the Internet and libraries that have knowledge, why do people still kill their fish by putting fish together that should not be together? I mean fish that have completely different needs such as cold water and tropical fish, Acid loving fish with hard and alkali loving fish. Just because a fish has a color that you think belongs in your tank, does it make any sense to put fish together that will kill one another?And then there are the people that are told about the cycling process and still will add as many fish (or more) in the tank right away as it will hold when cycled. They then (or lots of them will) go back to the store and demand a refund because the store sold them sick fish. I have worked n pet shops and this was a common occurrence.

I don't know why this keeps happening, as the cycling process has been posted many times. Its simple to ask members whether you can put the fish together. I know some people are given fish and know little about them.
My first fish were given to me with no instructions. I had only 1 tank at the time, so was lucky the fish could be placed together. I'm aware not everyone can afford many tanks. If you can't afford another tank, then see if somebody else can place the fish in their tank, if they shouldn't be placed in one tank.

because they dont care and the lives of the fish are not important to them, plain and simple.
they are dispensable and easily replaced. and i guess because you generally cant even pet your fish (ive had a few that actually like that lol!) they arent as high up on the list as a cat or a dog. basically just there to look at for most ppl.
personally if/when i decide to get a new pet (fish,dog,cat,bird etc etc) i try to learn about it first. i want to know what it eats and conditions it needs to survive, because as soon as i hand over the money, THEIR LIFE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY!
they just dont care enough. pisses me off, but not much anybody can do, even putting the info out there for them to find...THEY have to have the desire to learn first.
