Do you stop eating or drinking any kind of food while pregnant?

I started to stop drinking coffee and tea 3 months before I wanted to get pregnant, I read that it's good for the mother and the baby too. I used to drink coffee and tea almost everyday, but now because of my baby, I have been quitting coffee & tea for about 10 months! Besides coffee and tea, I stop taking many kinds of food too, such as hot and spicy food, crabs, seafood (except for fish). Some of my friends just don't care about this and keep eating what they like to eat. But I'm just very cautious about my own health and my baby, just want him to be healthy. How about you? do you watch the food you eat while you are pregnant? What kind of food do you stop eating?

I too did not eat seafood and also did not eat mushrooms. My mom always said that when you eat mushrooms you tend to have miscarriages. I don't know how far that is true but when I don't get my menstruation on time I always eat mushrooms and the next day I get it.

I didn't know we can't eat mushrooms while pregnant, and I still eat mushrooms now. Thank you for the information, for the safe, I think I'd just stop eating mushrooms too.

Hi lulumartin, thanks for the link. If mushrooms contain folic acid, I think it should be good for pregnant ladies, right? ^_^

I thought eating mushrooms are healthy and good for pregnant woman. I read it from somewhere before. I tried to search from website again, it says mushrooms are the nature source that contains folid acid. Here is the link : www.cancertutor.com/Pregnant.html

I take more fruits and vegetables than before. I don't drink coffee, but i drink tea occasionally if having meals at chinese and japanese restaurants. I still take spicy food sometimes, not much seafood, because of the mercury. I seldom drink milk, i take soya milk sometimes, and eggs all the time.

Hi lulumartin, thanks for your response. I heard that eggs are good too, because of the protein, right? ^_^

Hi, Kaka, thank you for the best response given. :-) Egg is very good for pregnant women, i have heard that pregnant women can take more eggs than before pregnancy, but i'm not sure it's true or not, because egg yolk also can cause high cholestrol. Eggs contain protein, fat, minerals, vitamin A, D, and some B, hence it is undoubtedly healthy and nutritious for pregnant women. I always make sure that the eggs are fully cooked. My husband told me that it's not good for us to take raw or partially cooked eggs, or any kind of meat. Have a nice day :-)

Yeah, my mum advised me not to eat half-cooked eggs too, as it may still contains any bacteria. I don't dare to eat half-cooked eggs now, as pregnant ladies shouldn't take raw food too, right?

When I was pregnant, I stopped drinking anything with caffine. I was and still am a diet pepsi-aholic. For the first 3 months of all my pregnancies, I could hardly eat anything because I was so sick, so that helped in not eating things that weren't good for the baby.

Hi sunshine4, thanks for your response. Some of my friends couldn't eat and sleep well during the first 3 months of pregnancy too, it's kinda suffering to eat and not to eat too.

No I carried on as normal while pregnant especially with my second pregnancy as I was very ill and needed to eat more than normal to make sure she got what she needed as my body was loosing too much of the things she needed I was extra careful both pregnancies to make sure things were cooked properly just in case!

Hi kezabelle, thanks for your response. Yeah, I have heard that eating raw food is not good for pregnant ladies. That's why since I'm pregnant, I can't eat my favorite Japanese food - Sushi, with raw salmon. But, of course, the baby is more important, I'd rather quit eating my favorite food but want to make sure he is healthy.

yes, when i was pregnant i stopped eating/ drinking some foods like coffee... because at this point you have to watch out what you are eating and how much you are eating for the sake of the baby. Drink more milk and those foods rich in folic acid and potassium

Yeah, I think that too. Since I knew I'm pregnant, I started to drink those milk powder specially for pregnant women, and also try to eat those food which are suitable for pregnant women too.
