With all the jobs lost. And people are unemployed the crime and burglar rate is rising. I live in a residential area and most of the homes here have a security system installed.
Is your home protected by a security system?
If not how is your home protected.

There is someone home at least 98% of the time. Unless we all decide to go out for supper which is rare these days, someone is always here. Security systems here cost a fortune but if you're working and no one home alot, it certainly could pay for itself in no time.

Same here as far as someone here almost always.
Seldom is the house empty.
Dad is always here but he would be of no help I fear.
He doesn't like getting up to walk to the bathroom.

My "security alarm" is my two little Maltese dogs! LOL
No one... and I DO mean NO ONE could come close to our house without my little alarms barking their heads off! We have plenty of protection inside the house and my dogs alert me to anyone who might be outside. We live out in the country where "Tresspassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again."
My car and my husband's truck have security alarms installed. Fortunately, we got away from an area with a rising crime rate and moved to the country to put as much distance we could between ourselves and the criminals! The crime rate where we live is almost non-existant! Mostly, crimes around here consist of breaking driving laws!
I used to live in an area where almost every single house had an alarm system installed. That area had a VERY high crime rate. I never had any problems, though. Maybe one reason was because I had 2 dogs at the time; one of them being large and LOUD!
I hope, now that the gas prices have dropped so dramatically (at least here they have!), life will begin to get back to normal for those who were severely affected by rising prices and losing their jobs. I hope to be able to employ a few people soon and do my part to help out.

I have just 2 minor forms of security for my house.
One beoing my beagle Buster.
But he isn't all that great.
Then I have moption detector lights on my garage.
This is all I have.
I've been here 5 years and no problems so far.
Knock on wood.
I can't afford a security system actually.

Hi Chevee,
When I used to live in London, my flat was burgled, since then we bought our own house and hv e been here for over 20 years and we have s security system installed but I really don't have to worry as my neighgs are so close and look out for each other, where I live is a quiet area and everyone knows each other and if there there anything strange going on we can ring the police straight away, but thank gooness nothing has happened and my house is protected. Hugs.
