I haven't used layaway since about 1980. Didn't know they still offered it. Credit cards are the new layaway. Buy now and pay later but get the item immediately. Can be dangerous though!

Considering the fact that layaway didnt pack the wopping interests and finance charges and credit cards will take you to financial doom...

I have not uses layaway in a long time either. One year after my grandson was born, my daughter was a single mom at the time, she and I went to town and put some things on layaway for Christmas. We were able to put things on sale on layaway and when the time come to pick up the items they were having a big sale and they actually give us the layaway items and took the sale percentage off of the things. We did so good that year. One of the main things we got for him that year was a Barney that sings and talks and plays word games with just the touch of his hands or toes. I think he used to cost close to 100.00 and after the sale price and then the percentage off when picked up he ended up costing about 20.00.

I would imagine that many people would enjoy it. I agree that the credit cards are bad but this would be a nice alternative again. Who knows, one day they may start it back up...

Most places don't have it anymore. There is nowhere around here. I think there would be alot of people who would have used it, the way things are now. We don't want to use credit cards unless we have an emergency.

No one offers layaway in my town. WalMart is the major retailer here, and they discontinued it about three years ago. I would possibly use it. It is on its way back and this Christmas season the stores are reinstating it. Stores like KMart.I would use it. The people who cannot get credit, or who choose not to go any deeper into credit card debt. It is a good option to make sure the product is available when you have the money.

I saw that Kmart still had it but I dont think that we have a Kmart here anymore. I think it closed down years ago. I didnt know if Walmarts still had the layaway, I guess, they dont....

I think layaway is great! I think that credit cards have done us no favors. People no longer have to have patience. They can get instant gratification and a high interest rate all at the same time!We used it a few times when Walmart still had it. No stores around here offer it anymore.
