Oh no! I did it again!

After all the hard work earning money online, I blew it just like that. I gambled all my hard earned money and I lost terribly. What was I thinking? I regretted my impulse decision to gamble but then again I thought its my money and I can choose to do whatever I want with it, be it buying something for myself, fill up food in my refrigerator or even enjoy the thing I love most with my money. Oh well, money is gone now but I still can earn it again and again. I should enjoy life not worry about yesterday. What about you? What do you do with your hard earned money? Do you save it up for rainy days or do you spend it as fast as you earned it?

I had saved up quite a bit, but unfortunate circumstances depleted my account. The rainy days came sooner than I expected.

Hi! First of all, have no regrets about the "lost" money. It's not lost, it was invested in your momentary pleasure. After all, it was your money and it brought you pleasure gambling them. Also, you enjoyed the excitement of waiting for the result. You have one life, that you don't live to eat or offer pleasure to others, unless you're very hungry or very generous :) It's better to have no regrets AT ALL, in life. What your decisions are, is what your soul is. So you're a gambler. Good thing you're not a serial killer. Be happy about your guts to do what you wish, as long as you're not hurting others, and put your own will above "socially-educated" reason. Being happy is a rare thing. Unless the food you could've bought makes you happy, you did the right thing. Of course, it's important to have food on the table, especially if you have a family to take care of, but if that's not the case, and you know for a fact that you still have some money to maintain your existence until the next paycheck comes in, you can consider yourself set. Cheer up, money comes and goes, a moment of joy in a stressful society is good to experience.

I find your words of advice comforting. Now, I am not feeling as bad. I am not a heavy gambler but occasional gambler and can be impulsive one. I find that when I am under a great deal of stress, I always want to go for somewhere where I can be happy and gambling is one of them. Thanks for your thoughtful advice, really appreciate it.

I am trying to be less impulsive and to save it. Right now, because we are paying off debt, everything gets put towards the debt. I am trying to build up a little stockpile for emergencies, too. But yes, i do do impulsive things and spend money. Especially if it is extra money.

Since I am a housewife, the money I earned is like my 'salary'. I do have some outstanding debts to pay off. But my husband pays most of the major ones. So, I am only contributing a small portion of it.

I am saving the money I make from online for a Macbook Pro computer. I already get a pension, so I use that for stuff for the house, bills, etc. and since my husband gets a larger pension, he pays for most. I do put a bit away for savings just in case, but that is a percentage of all my money. I am rather afraid to spend money as I always feel that something terrible will happen if I do. I know it is irrational but that is how I feel.

I do have that terrible feeling too. Sometimes it turned out to be right. But of course, not always. I like to spend my money because I thought I should at least have some kind of reward for the hard work making money online.

I try to save money for something I desire to buy. But always there are some unavoidable needs getting away with some portion of it! Never reached my goal thus. Maybe that's the life!

As you said it's your own money, you can spend it anywhere you like. But since you feel regret about it, that means you were not happy with the way you spent the money, right? Then, perhaps you can think about how to spend the money you earn properly, so that you will have no regret. ^_^ As for myself, I always try to enjoy my life and I'd like to spend money for myself too. I always have my own plans, I'll buy something that I need for myself and my family, I'll go for nice meals that my family, friends and myself will enjoy, and also go for holiday. Of course, I do save some money aside too. I also plan for my retirement and my kids' education fund too. It's really up to you how you'd like to spend the money, as long as you really enjoy it and you think it's worth spending that way. Be happy always!

Thats what happened when I have an impulse decision, I always regret it later on. You spent your money wisely. Sometimes we slipped and things got out of hands. Yes, I regretted it and I am not happy now.

I understand your feeling from the bottom of my heart, though I never gamble. During the last three months, I spent much money on my hair, entertainment, and especially on new clothes. Each time I bought new clothes , I felt excited instead upset. But great regret came to me after I went back to my drom.As I am just a sophomore and haven't an stable income, I really shouldn't spend money like that. When I was upset,I would seek something exciting, but most of the time it turned out to be worse--the upset mood once hiding under the temporary excitment revealed, plus the regret. I think it is because we feel empty and want to find something to stuff that we fall into this bad situation. But we'll never be satisfied on the earth. What we really need is Lord Juses. Now I come to Lord Juses, and no longer feel empty.I am full of happiness.

I'm sorry to hear that your gamble didn't pay off. That's the tricky part about gambling--deciding whether to take the chance on the big payoff or keeping your money where you know it will be safe. I enjoy gambling once in a while, but I never spend anything I can't afford to lose. I know this may sound contradictory, since in today's economy nobody can really "afford" to lose any money. However, to me, I do not consider the money I earn online as real money until I actually see it in my bank account. I have a full time job that pays my bills and puts food on the table. My online activity is my way to unwind after a hard day at work. If I earn something from it then it is a great bonus, but I never count on it as a source of income. So if I use it to gamble and then lose, it is not really a loss because I never "had" it in the first place. Once my money becomes "real" then I am very adamant about not spending it unless I really have to. Occasionally I will splurge or try my luck. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes (most times, in fact) it doesn't. But if I enjoy it and it's not taking any money away from the household expenses then it is worth it for me just for the entertainment value.

That is too bad. I am sure that you know gambling would always make you lose your money. But then, just like you said that the money was yours and it was up to you what you wanted to do with it. As foe me, I need to keep all the money that I earned here as that would be used to pay for my blog hosting and my internet connection so that I could always be online. I do not have any money that I can simply spend away just like what you did. Recently I just bought flight tickets for my family annual vacation and that was from what we have managed to save this year. It is good if we can save some money for the rainy days as most of the time those days would come unexpectedly. Cheers!

Yeah, I know and I really regretted it. I was in so much stress lately that I thought I could use some kind of entertainment to ease up a bit. Yes, you are right again that gambling is a risky business. I also used my online earning to pay for my internet connection and if I have more, I would use it to buy food. But for this month, I kinda wanted to have something for myself. I think I will not do gambling anymore. It was a habit I have managed to stay away for quite sometimes. But I was so not happy lately that I see gambling as a way to get myself excited and happy, if I have won something big.

Thank you willie_guo. I should have thought long and hard. I had so much on my mind lately that I guess I wasn't thinking clearly. Really, acting on an impulse does cost me a lot of regrets. Too late to feel sorry now.

That's sad..... I did gambled away my money but never all. I do not call it gamble. I call it a donation. It sort of make me cope better with the loss. I always keep in mind I have commitments to fullfil. I do spend wisely though at times I do lost control and donated away what's not meant to be donated. I do not want to be the subject of an argument. I am too proud to be a bankrupt. LOL.

I don't gamble at all. If you gamble with just your extra earnings and it doesn't interfere with your life or make it impossible to pay your bills, then it's just fun and relaxing for you, that's fine. But if it is interfering with your ability to take care of your life, then you should do whatever it takes to stop. Me, I am just starting earning online so I haven't had a chance yet to do anything with it...

what sites have you gambled your money on? Have you won some before? I've used it to "gamble" with some "paying" sites, but now I am using it as another virtual piggy bank....

I used to be an impulsive shopper before, but I learned to teach myslf to think think think first before buying. I usually splurge on shoes and bags. I also buy jewelries. But lately,I will spend my money for my 2 kids. I never learned to gamble and I am hoping you will pass this stage of your life very soon. Yes,it is your money and no one has the right to tell you how to spend it...but ellie, gambling is addictive. Once you get hooked, its very hard to get out. Hitting the jackpot maybe rewarding...but remember this, you spend so much first...before hitting the jackpot. No matter how you will sum up everything...the money you have have won, can never cover up the money you have spent. Winning once, twice and loosing 10x...its always like that. I know of a mother who gambles every afternoon. For how many years now,she goes to the mall to gamble. Until now her husband doesnt know. The husband is earning very well and she spends money to gambling. Her 3 children hate her. She is never there for them. She looks like a mess. Could not even afford to buy a descent dress as she prefers to use her money to gamble. Sooner or later her husband will know...Im sure, it wouldnt be a good scene to witness. So, while you can, stay out of gambling and find some other productive things to save on...why dont you consider travelling...money will never be wasted. or save for a property...Good Luck

I do not have a lot of money however I do buy lottery tickets as I allocate this amount and it is part of my entertainment dollars. As I do not smoke or drink I find this an acceptable diversion. If however I started to regret afterwards I would have to rethink my priorities. There is nothing wrong with allocating a certain amount for gambling if that is what you find entertaining but I am worried you carried it too far by the obvious regret afterwards, so it was not a healthy and enjoyable time. I would never just piddle all my money away as it takes too much work to get it. Each dollar represents time I took aquiring it, so it has to do something for me when I spend it.
