Being as it was a nice sunny, though cold day I ventured out to do some much needed yardwork etc. I need to get a lot done before the ground freezes solid here in Minnesota. I am nearly done raking my leaves. I take them and throw them in my back yard as compost material. So it is a lot more work than simply raking them up and bagging them. I am planning on getting my wife outside tomorrow (Sunday) to get the rest finished before it freezes to the ground. Are you done with your yard work for the season or not? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My yard is full of leaves, but there not our leaves. I have no trees in my yard at all. The leaves come from the neighbors. I am all done with the yard work the leaves will just have to say untill spring.

If lewaves arte left in a pile over the winter they choke out the grass causing it to die off. We did that last year and had top replant a large area wqhere we left a pile of leaves. Now more weeds grow there than does grass even after reseeding the area. SO now I make sure not to leave a pile on the grassy areas. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I did not no this I always thought the leaves are good to stay on the grass it holds the moisture in. Now I better go out and rake up all the leaves before it gets cold out again. It is very nice here today got all the way to 70. Hope tomorrow will be the same.

My son mowed the other day and not for sure if it will need it again before spring or not. Our trees are mostly full with leaves still but we never have enough that we have to rake them up.

It's gotten really cold here Grandpa Bob, so cold that we can't paint our porch or deck until it warms up a wee bit. Gee, the other day when I primed it, the tempeture started dropping as the night was bearing down and I thought my hands would freeze off!! lol Have you ever thought about getting a leaf blower? It's so much easier to get your leaves in one area oppose to raking. Raking is just too hard on the body especially the shoulders. If you decide to get a leaf blower, let me know and I'll tell you which one to get. We got a not so good one the first time and our next door neighbor in Arkansas had a good one so we took the first one back and got this one and we love it!

Oh I have leaf blower. But the days I decided to do the leaves it was windy so a rake was the best option. Plus raking gives me some much needed exercise also. So sometimes I actually like raking to a point. I have a craftsman gas and a Toro electric leaf blower actually. I love Sears/Craftsman products as well as Toro. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Last Sunday we went and raked up the yard as well as cleaned out the duck pen and pond for the week. We were planning on putting the duck pond away for the winter but the duck was moping around so I filled it back up. We will not have to mow again until the spring. I would love to get a garden spot tilled up and then run some chickens and ducks in the lot the entire winter season. The compost pile is coming along well but it is not large enough to do much for the garden. :( I really want to concentrate on prepping the garden for the coming seasons. I do hope it is more successful next year!

Mowing was done here a few weeks ago. Once the frost hits no more growing grass. YIPPEEE! Now it's just the leaves and prepping soil etc. I started my compost back in March so I had PLENTY! Gardening is non stop even when the grounds blanketed in snow I guess.

All of our yard work is done. Thankfully. Since our last mowing the grass hasn't really grown any and since we have no trees in our yard we don't have any leaves the trees we do got on the hill behind the house though is mostly pine so nothing there but cones. Which makes nice holiday projects.

Well, we finally got the snow showers they kept saying we were suppose to get, so I did nothing today..And because the weather had shaken more leaves off the trees, it won't be until sometime next week that I hopefully finish the raking, it depends on if the tree are bare now or not..Though we do have a couple of trees that never loss all their leaves and we never did figure out why...

I bought allot more land in the summer, so I'll be working outdoors all winter trying to get it into some semblance of readiness for the coming planting season. It's a good time of year for this heavy sort of work, as it's just too hot in summer. Yesterday I spent almost all day burning. I was clearing brambles and weeds from around the perimeter wall of what will be on of the new veg fields.

It snowed about 8 inches last night here in central Ontario and it looks like this is the one that might stay. I covered the air conditioner, put away the patio furniture and raked the leaves about 10 days ago during a warm spell. The snow is sticking to the trees so I must go out and take some pictures before the snow blows off the trees. Unfortunately the plow has gone down the road and there is a big hump of snow at the end of the driveway and the snow blower guy has not come yet. I hope he is not away for the weekend. I cannot post a picture yet, it looks so nice outside.

I still have a few leaves on my lawn as most got blown away by severe gales last week, so lucky me I suppose. Raking them all up is really hard work and hurts my back. I would love to have a compost bin to make new soil and compost for my garden. Do you use a bin or could I just pile it in a corner. Thank you and happing raking Grandpa Bob.

My hubby has to get the last of the leaves. I have to plant some bulbs that I picked up today. They are Dutch Iris bulbs and I want to get them in before the ground gets too hard.

Grandpa, I live in a big apartment with no yard. I do go to my fathers and help him with his yardwork. He always has alot to do there because he has alot of gardens and plants. He also grows alot of fruit trees and things like that.He loves working outside and he likes it when the entire family is out there working together!
