Have you ever used laxatives as a way to lose weight?

I saw this movie recently where the girl wanted to lose weight. So she used laxatives. It was better than throwing up and more discreet. It seemed like a way to lose a bunch of weight. Have you ever tried this? Do you think it is considered as an eating disorder? I wonder if there are health risks to it!

No, but I did try diuretics, weight-loss pills and even syrup of ipecac, and decided that all were dumb. Thank goodness I did not do them for long.

Of course it's an eating disorder. It's also dangerous to your health and the weight will come right back as soon as you stop. If you use laxatives for a long time you will have problems with your intestines once you stop and you also risk doing permanent damage. If you want to lose weight, do it the responsible way...not the easy way. I have lived a low carb lifestyle for many years and it's a healthy way to maintain a good weight. Check out different weight loss programs and pick the one you like the best. Give it an honest shot and also get up off your butt and exercise. Even if it's just walking, the more you move, the more calories you burn and the more you tone your muscles. Muscles burn calories so the more muscles you have, the better. Don't risk your health for a quick fix.

Laxatives work in our colons, not our stomach. What may seem like lost weight is just water weight and will be gained back very quickly. Because laxatives work in the colon, this means that by the time laxative start working, all the calories and fat have already been absorbed by our bodies. In addition, there are many health risks using these for anything other than occasional constipation. They include: severe abdominal pain, bloating, cramps, nausea, chronic diarrhea or chronic constipation, excess gas, dehydration, and loss of electrolytes than can lead to heart problems. If you want to learn more, just use a search engine and look up health risks for using laxatives for weight loss. That is where I found this information. And yes, when I was a teenager, I did try this method. It didn't make me lose weight, it just made me feel worse about myself.

Yes I used that before. I know that it was wrong, but the social pressure urged me so hard to use the pills. I didn't lose weight, and instead of that, I only able to spend my days on the bed because I could not do any activities. it is said that the misuse of it would affects our digestion system in the body, and could be harmful if it is used regularly. I would not say that it is an eating disorder, but it is a disorder. I stopped using that, and that's so much better to lose weight in more natural way.

I never done that before and until now and i think it's an eating disorder if she keeps lossing her weight of feeling fat, that's anoxia and it's dangerous. If you keep taking laxative it really ruins your body and health and sometimes it leads you to die if you do it excessively. Happy posting.
