Do you think it will be too cold?

My daughter has a field trip Friday. The local community center is putting on a childrens play. The center is less than 1/2 a mile or so from the school. So they are having the Kindergarteners walk from the school to the center and back. It will be between 35-40 degrees according to weather reports. I am not sure I like the idea.

If the school didn't think the kids could handle it, they wouldn't have planned for them to walk. Kids hardly notice the cold anyways, and I'm not sure where you're from, but here in NY 40 degrees is practically shorts weather, lol. It's really not that bad. Just bundle her up that day.

Yeah, but sometimes when the wind blows it is much colder and that kind of weather can make kids sick. Do they even let kids outside for recess when it is that cold?

Yikes! that is too cold. They could catch a cold in that kind of weather. If you could I would if if you could pick her up and meet them there..That is a good distance even if bundled up. maybe a few parents with vans could volunteer. How they going to keep so many kids in line and safe from traffic? Are there sidewalks? Too bad they could take a bus.

Provided they wear clothing suitable for the weather, what will be the problem? It would be a stupid parent indeed who didn't send their kid to school dressed appropriately, especially if they know they will have a 10 minute walk.

I think it will be way to cold for that too. That should have had a better plan to get the children there out of the weather.

I think she will be fine. I would just make sure she is bundled up nice and warm that day to make it a little easier on her.

I worry a lot about cold weather and my kid. I guess, however, you have to trust the school not to want to get a bunch of kids sick with pneumonia.
