well,i have it this day and yesterday. it was raining so hard. and i am whole body wet. i don't have any umbrella. and i only borrowed one. i have this odd feeling to bring one. maybe because guys are not used to bringing umbrella. especially when it does not rain. i don't know about the others, but nowadays, guys are bringing one even when there is no rain! some said that they used it for protection against the intensity of the heat of the sun. well, it is good. but how about you?.. is it okey if a guy is to bring an umbrella?...

Its totally cool if a guy carries an umbrella. Why can't a guy take care of him himself. But that doesn't mean that you can carry a girlie umbrella with you. Carry a long pointed umbrella, that looks cool as well. a long umbrella which can also be used as a stick. So go ahead!!

you are riht there my friend! when bringing an umbrella, we have to make sure of the designs too. it must be complimentary to who you are and your sexes.. but regardless of the design, when it rains, i would carry anything.. hehehe

It's ok for me when a guy has an umbrella. That doesn't mean when a guy bring one he is considered gay. Men are a bit vain now a day, more vain than women (just my observation). As what you've said, they used umbrella to protect their skin from the sun. And the weather now is unpredictable like today, in the morning it rains hard and now the sun is up and really hot! So, practically speaking, all of the people now brings umbrella for double purpose, for the rain and for the sun.

There's nothing wrong for a guy to bring umbrella whether it is raining or not. Here in the Philippines, the weather is very different. It's hot even when it's already 5 am . Women and men need equal protection from skin diseases. I have this guy friend who does not bring an umbrella even when it rains, his reason was, he is a guy. With such answer, I said, "stupid"...He easily gets colds and fever. I told him, "if you think, taking an umbrella would be less to your masculinity , you are wrong"...Then i continued, "people will think that you are more straight when you know how to protect yourself from sickness"...I did not know if he got what I want to imply to him.... In terms of heat, guys are no exceptions in using an umbrella. It isn't a measure of masculinity, anyway.

you are right. i am from the philippines. and the same reaction is true to every guys here. it is still not aceepted when a guy is bringing an umbrella. it would make the bearer less masculine.. however, things are changing right now. i guess, guys are learning to learn.. learn to use the protection...

My best opinion would be that it depends on the guy, the country and the situation. There is a lot to be considered here. If it is a professional guy in America, it is actually expected. And if he is meeting clients or a female friend then it is a huge plus. Then again, if it is a coal miner or a sports guy, I think women would be surprised here in America to see a man carrying an umbrella. But in your situation, there is hot sun and people expect it. So if people expect a man to use it against the sun or the rain, then it does not harm your masculinity at all. Hope that my opinion is a bit helpful. Have a great day!

your opinion is well respected my friend. you are certainly right. and i give you my best response. bringing umbrella depends on every situation.. and nowadays, the UV rays from the sun is so destructive already that we really need protections. and as i read your response, i guess almost all of the guys there are bringing one umbrella. i guess that fits it all. it is okey for a guy to bring umbrella.. congratulations!!.. please add me as a friend... thanks!

I certainly do not care at all if a guy brings an umbrella..Why not?. You lot still have the right to bring and use one if the situation calls you to right?. I'm even impressed to see a guy holding one. It just means he cares for his skin because he's protecting it from the sun's UV rays.( or whatever situation he is into..)

Hello jingbautista. I think it is okay for a guy to bring an umbrella depending on what kind of umbrella it is. I think if it is an umbrella with girly designs in it, they might think of something else but, if it is just a plain umbrella, I dont see anything wrong with it.

Its ok to bring umbrella jing than to get wet. I see guys bringing umbrella here and even kuya jerry brings a huge umbrella when it rains hard. Its also there for our protection and i guess theres no discrimination when it comes to bringing things that are essential to our protection. Have a nice day and take care!

it is because before, it is only girls who would bring umbrellas. it was so unlikely that guys would be bringing one. but now, i guess, there is no more discrimination to it.. there are a lot of guys and gays who would bring because the heat is now so intense and the sun is so brighter.. hehe.. what happened to my english.. toinks...

hello jingbautista, As for me, it's just okey for a guy to bring an umbrella. There's nothing wrong about it. Bringing an umbrella doesn't affect or change your masculinity. Though most of the men are not bringing, maybe because they are lazy in doing it. Or they don't have one or not used to it. There is a lot of uses of an umbrella. Aside from protecting us from the heat of the sun, or from the rain, we can use it in hitting bad people too.

i think it is ok if a guy is using an umbrella and there is nothing like that only guys or girls have to use umbrella. it is just the way people think and you have to be protected when it is raining and so have to take an umbrella no matter if you are a boy or a girl and there is nothing to feel worried about that. yes you can also use jackets, raincoats and if not you can use umbrellas. guys get worried about their style and they think that they cant have any strong impression on girls and hence some dont use umbrellas, correct me if i am wrong. but i think there is nothing like that and you have to use umbrellas.

Of course, it's okay. If it's raining why not? There is nothing wrong with a man bringing an umbrella. The umbrella does not make a man out of anyone. Being a true man comes from within and is not caused by external paraphernalia or adornments. It is an innate characteristic that comes from being helpful, kind, true and noble. Happy mylotting

i am really bringing now one. and if i don't have one, i would borrow to others and make sure to bring one. even when i would go home and be coming back, i make it sure to really bring one. the weather here in the Philippines is really unpredictable.. one moment the sun shines so much, and the next thing, it would rain and would really rain so bad..

Nowadays, carrying an umbrella has become a fashion especially guys. thanx for the new trend!!! It acts as a fashion code as well as a protector from rain and terrible rays of the sun. Interestingly I have not seen a single umbrella open!cool!!!

well, it will be depend on the climate. I would be better if a guy have an umbrella because they are also human that can be wet when there ir rain. nothing wrong if he will bring umbrella. Beside they need to be always in good health as they are the one who worked for the family.

I find it rather romantic if a guy brings an umbrella on a date with me. My boyfriend has done that and used it to keep me dry while we walked from the house to the car, and to the restaurant or wherever we went. If a guy is in a professional situation it is professional to bring one, you don't want to show up at a meeting or something soaking wet. It leaves a bad impression.

Seeing an umbrella is a device to protect people from the rain I don't see why men should not carry an umbrella when it is about to rain. Here in Canada two types of umbrellas are for sale. Black ones or dark blue ones are favoured by men and bright coloured ones by women. It does look very unprofessional if a person male or female arrives at a meeting or business event soaking wet. Some ladies carry a brightly coloured umbrella also as protetion from the sun but we don't see it that often.

I would try not to bring an umbrella as far as possible because a small one takes up space in my bag and a large one, I might just misplaced it. However if I know it's going to rain, it's wise to have umbrella with me. But I'll not use umbrella to protect from the heat of the sun, rather I'd wear sunglasses and use sunscreen.
