this time I read about a study that suggests our brains are wired so that we don't consciously perceive even major aspect of our experience when our focus is fixed on something else. This must come from the same time in human development when we got the fight or flight reaction. How much do you think this affects your lives. All input that is being stored in our brains each day without us knowing. Scary isn't it.

Hi, savypat. Yes, that is a bit scary when you think about it. I believe it probably affects our lives a great deal. I give this idea waaaaay too much thought when it comes to thinking about things going into my childs brain. The whole idea that "you can't unring a bell" will drive me nuts when I think about the things I can't keep from going into his mind.

You can't control what is going into your child's mind but you can teach him how to handle it. First he needs to be made aware of this input, then he needs to learn that he can control what gets into his brain. He's very lucky to be growing up in the computer age because that is how our brain works. Spam in, Spam out. teach him to put up filters so not so much gets in. There are many articles on the Internet which tell you how to teach this. Good luck.

Yes, I've read topics similar to that you've read (though I cannot remember much about it because that was already quite a long time ago...). At most times-as you said- we store information in our heads without us knowing it. Yes, that's absolutely a fact. I believe it's called subconsciousness. I experience this every-so-often and I find it really creepy and weird at the same time. I guess this is how God created us and we must find no way against it, for it is the thing He gave us.

Yes I've been reading on a similar topic which is the conscious and subconscious mind. Some things we store into our brains without knowing and that is the subconscious and the things we want to store are the conscious.
