Stockings hung by the fireplace with care in hopes that St Nick would soon be there. Well these are 2 of the stockings in my house hung with care. They are for the grandchildren. Each year we make and fill the stockings for the kids taking them to their house Christmass day or give to them if they visit us instead. We pout a few small gifts wrapped inside them along with loads of candy. So do you make stockings for your grandkids or leave that to their parenmts to do? Do you have a stocking for yourself each year as well? I don't as of a few years ago. I used to make one for my wife and I each year but she;s grown out of candy so I just have my candy sitting under the tree for eating etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I still give my 17 year old son a Christmas stocking, he likes it and it's fun for me too. I also give my granddaughters a stocking with fun little girl stuff. This year I have to add one for my new grandson. I don't get one, but maybe I should make myself one too.lol

That would be true, except we can't afford more than we are doing now..Remember that I also have a 6 y/o, so that would be three stockings plus gifts, and unless I get a job, I can't do more than I am already doing..:(

A few years ago, I made "stockings" for the roomie's family. I made "tennis shoes" for the "thuggie" boys, "cowboy boots" for the "country loving" teenage girls, a "tennis shoe" for the good neighbor across the street from the roomie's folks, a "cowboy boot" for the roomie's dad and "high top boots" for her mom and the lady across the street. We put fruit and candy in them. I even made tongues, and laces for the "tennis shoes" and "high top boots." They were well received!

Hi GRANDPA BOB, As there is only my husband and I, we don't have any stockings, I normally buy the presents and leave them under the tree and all the presents form my sister and my niece and nephew and my brother in law will be taken to them if not Christmas day, it will be on Boxing day, we don't have any young children around, as my niece and nephew are both in their 30s. I always have a stocking for my little sister and me and my husband as well. It is fun watching her eyes light up as she sifts through all the goodies in her stocking. With the other kids we have white or brown paper bags and put in the fruit, nuts, candy and small gifts.

my Christmas stocking - I cross-stitched this stocking for myself. I mostly followed a commercial pattern, but changed a few things, like added a cat and removed some toys.
I don't have any kids, so no grandkids, either, but I'm doing a pair of cross-stitch stockings for a friend of mine for her nephews. Maybe 10 years ago, I cross-stitched one for myself, but no one ever puts anything in it.

I always hung stockings when my kids were little but don't hang them any longer. Santa does leave gifts for the grandkids here but that is all since I don't hang stockings for them. They all have their own stockings at their house. Oh yes, and we have probably too many gifts for them from us also. hahaha

We have stockings for all of us. We put gifts unwrapped and candy in them for the kids, and let the kids go through the stockings while mom and dad wake up a bit before we open the presents. We also get each other stocking stuffers too, but mostly it's a show for the kids, so they don't wonder why santa forgot us. I think probably when the kids are older we will no longer do stockings. We usually fill them with candy and body stuff like I'll get him a razor, some after shave, body wash, etc, and he gets me stuff like that too, hair spray, make up, whatever. It's stupid things, but stuff we'll use none the less.

Both of my boys are grown but they still get their stocking full of candy every year. I usually put a small tin or bag of homemade goodies in each one and a watch or wallet or something small in size for both of them. Me and my husband both have a stocking hanging, I made one for us both last year and I got a diamond ring in mine last year! There wont be any diamonds this year but we will still have them!

I have stockings filled for all my daughters and the oldest are 20years and 19years. I only fill theirs with candy and a small gift, but the two yonger daughters I fill with everything exciting I can find (small items) as they are quite big stockings. This year I will have five to fill as I have a new Grandson. I will put in his one some white chocolate and a few small toys. I love stockings. My Mum fills one for my brother who stll lives at home. I think I should hang one up for me, as I might get something nice in it. Take care

Hi Grandpa Bob, I've decided to nominate 'you' as myLot's official 'Christmas Spirit Manager.' I was trying to think of an even better title for this position, but the hour is late, so ... Anyway, you've definitely got my vote, if anybody else decides to run for this office. I just love your enthusiasm for the holiday season, and it always ignites a spark in me, until I'm glowing with the Christmas spirit. It doesn't matter how tough the times are, there are always creative ways around this. We can still make the most of this special season, and you always convey this to everyone willing to listen. We've always had Christmas stockings, and they are a very important part of our celebration. Small children aren't necessary, as they're suitable for all ages. When I was a kid, my mom filled stockings that she'd made for each family member. My sister and I were allowed to open them, while the adults slept. They contained candy, nuts, and fruit, and kept us happy until present time. All of the family had to be there for the gift opening. Nowadays, my daughter and I exchange stockings. We fill them with whatever interesting items we can find. Practical toiletries, edible goodies, unexpected surprises, etc. I now use the stocking that belonged to my late husband, so it's a special sentimental time for me too. We enjoy these just as much as the larger gifts. I just remembered, I made a special stocking one year for a good friend of mine. I filled it of course, and hoped her kids would keep up the tradition. They didn't! I must check into this, and see that she gets her stocking this year again. I know this is lengthy, but since you're the official 'myLot Christmas Spirit Manager,' I can't help myself. Oh, one last thing here. Is this coming Thursday 'your' Thanksgiving? Take care.

I just love thisa time of the year as I love making others feel better and theres no better time really for this. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You know how to get the ladies attention. Good opener. I'm not much of a candy eater but Christmas for me is to see my grandchildren happy and having fun. Christmas wouldn't be the same without the stockings for the kids. I can see both of you do a good job of being grandparents.

I don't have grandkids yet, but we give our kids stockings and also have ours out. Their grandparents usually give them a stocking, too, if we go and visit or they come to visit us. But they live far away and we don't see them each Christmas. We usually put in a bit of candy, nuts, and a small present. My MIL puts in stuff like toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks and underwear as a small present...

Hey Grandpa Bob! Where's Savanna's stocking? I know she's too little but she should have one anyway! It is her very first Christmas! Do you have Christmas at your house of at Minnie's? It should be great this year with the new edition of the "Princess". I can't wait to see her in her new Christmas dress! I used to hang a stocking for myself, but no one put anything in it so I gave up! There weren't any presents under the tree either so I gave that up too! This year I'm trying to decide if I will put up the tree or not. If I get the apartment fixed up soon I might put the tree up. But I need to get all new ornaments because I threw out all the glass ones last year because the cats I have now will definitely be climbing the tree. I haven't put the big one up in the 4 years since I got them. My cats before them were to fat to climb.

The large one is the boys. There are 2 but not in the photo. It's farter down the mantle. Hers is the long one in the photo actually. Don't know where it's at this year. Last year it was here on Christmas Eve and I think we had dinner at her place. I can't even remember that. Santa always buys me something so I know I'll have something under the tree at least.
