I woke up this morning and was reminded that winter skin needs special attention. I itched all over. Here's an article that may help Managing Dry Winter Skin Stay soft in the cold As the colder months of winter approach, so does the likelihood of dry winter skin. The combination of lower humidity, cold temperatures outside and dry, heated air inside can dry out and irritate just about all skin types. But there are easy ways to keep that itchy feeling at bay. Moisturize regularly: Use a hydrating lotion such as Burt's Bees Buttermilk lotion after a bath, shower or hand washing. Pat skin dry after washing and apply the product when skin is slightly damp. This locks in moisture and helps keep your skin smooth and supple. Keep a moisturizer in your car or in your desk at work so you can reapply it throughout the day. Your hands aren't the only part of your body to take care of during the winter. You can keep sensitive facial skin refreshed and hydrated with a spritz of Evian Mineral Spray. Skip the shower gel: The alcohol content in shower gels can make them too drying for winter months. Instead, opt for a shower cream such as Cucumber Melon or Midnight Pomegranate by Bath & Body Works. Or try a hydrating soap such as Caswell Massey's Natural Oatmeal Soap. Keep hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids but go easy on decaffeinated drinks which can be dehydrating. Eat skin-healthy foods such as walnuts, salmon and flax seed which are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and help keep your skin lubricated. Don't forget the Lips: Take care of lips during the cold months of winter by protecting them with a soothing lip balm such as Burt's Bees or Blistex. Keep one of these in your purse or desk so you can reapply whenever you need it. With a little vigilance and tender loving care you can keep your skin hydrated and soft all winter long! 18 Nov, 2008 |Beth Farrell Hope some of this helps you, would you like to contribute your ideas?

There are many baby and children products, it's most important to keep their cheeks and hands covered with moisturiser after cleaning.

Skin Care in the Winter Season 1. Moisturize:- As winters dry your skin cells, you need to hydrate with a hypoallergenic moisturizer. 2. Shower Habits:- Taking showers off and on, would make your already dry skin drier. Therefore it is advisable that your water should contains aromatherapic oil that would soothe your skin and preferably the soap that you use should be rich in moisturizers. 3. Fabrics:- What stays in contact with your skin throughout winters is a load of fabrics, which soak essential moisture from your skin. Therefore, you should select woollen fabrics that keep your body warm and dont itch your dry skin. 4. Hydrate:- The best way to hydrate your skin is to drink lots of water, salads and fruits. 5. Controlling Room Temperature:- The dry air during winter season can make your skin worst, therefore it is better to maintain humidity inside your living space, prefereably with a humidifier.

Great article! I can already tell that I need to change my soap soon. I use a different type of body soap during the summer and fall months then I do doing the winter. I usually use Caress,Dove & Aveeno soap during the winter months on my son's skin and my skin. Me and my son both have eczema and I need to take extra care of our skin during the dry winter months. I love Aveeno lotion and soap. I also find that if you apply a bit of baby oil on still wet skin after a shower that it very much makes the skin soft and moisturizing.

My hands really suffer in this cold weather. They go all flakey and chapped. I always find that E45 cream is the best. I have tried 100's of different creams and alqways go back to E45 cream, my hands clear up in a few days and feel like a baby btm.

I am in need of some help, my feet are soooo dry and when I walk across the floor, I can feel skin flaking off, i have tried so many body lotions on my feet, does not help much. Could anybody shine some light on body butters, which ones are good to use (scents not an issue)on my feet. Also, on a personal note, my skin gets almost as dry in my genital area as my feet, would a body butter be beneficial there too, again lotions don't last long as far as softness.

I just read an article taht said that natural cocnut oil from the health food store is very good for dry skin, it siad to put it on at night just before bed, I athink you could use it in both areas that are troubling you. Just wear white cotton socks at night, that way you won't get the oil on the bedding. YOu might also need to look at your diet, you may be low in essental fatty acids or something. Look on the internet for other ideas about dry skin. Good luck
