He swept the floor while there are people eating

I've been to fast food chains and I,ve noticed that attendants were always there to sweep the floor, wipe the tables and spritz on glass walls even while there were people eating. Wiping vacated tables is just right for me, but do you think sweeping and spritzing are ok? Thank you in advance for responding. Good day!

I hate when people sweep while I'm eating. Especially when they are doing it very close to me. I understand if someone made a mess that had to be cleaned up right away. But usually that isn't the case. Maybe they couldn't find anything else to do, and they were instructed to find something to do by their manager. I don't know. But I've been to a fast food place where someone actually asked me to lift my feet so he could sweep under where I was sitting! But I also hate to see people use a rag to wash the table, and then they push all the crumbs in the floor. Have you noticed how many times that one rag is used? On seemingly everything! No way is that table really clean. What we can't see are all the germs left behind by the repeated use of one rag!

So, that is happening in other countries, too. I thought it just happens here.

Always sweeping or mopping is alright with me at fastfood chains, for as long as I don't get disturbed, don't slip on the floor, and if the cleaning detergent is not strong smelling or painful to the eyes.

Nope don't think that was professional at all. That was bad business for the company what was he thinking. That could have been a complaint against that place. I think he should have waited.

That doesn't bother me because let's face it, people that hate people cleaning while they're eating are the same people that will complain about how messy the table's are and how messy the restaurant is and how the workers need to get out there and clean. It needs to be done. They can't wait until there isn't anyone there because there is always someone there eating. It needs done. If you don't like it, don't eat in the restaurant or at least don't complain the next time you decide to sit down and find a messy table.

I think they should do their cleanup in a more discrete manner. I would not want to eat if there is dust or spritz around my food.

My dear that is one thing I've also been noticing and in fact one time I told the crew to stop mopping the floor till we are done with our eating. Imagine how unsightly to see someone cleaning the floor while dining and trying to enjoy the food. How much more seeing them sweeping the floor. How sure that no dirt are getting into the food while they are sweeping. Spritzing is another unsightly sight and I find it not so polite for them to do those things in front of customers who are there to enjoy eating and not seeing them cleaning.

I dont like that they do that either. I really hate when people are using chemicals next to my food and I know that they do that in the back where they cook the food too. Not healthy at all. I dont really care if they sweep by me though, just as long as they dont bump my doot or my chair which a lot of them do. Fast food places are just not very sanitary. I have worked at a few and so I know the kinds of things they do. Doesn't stop me from eating at them though.

i guess the staff should always clean the tables, chairs and floors... but they should do it in a very careful manner... coz at times, when we eat in fast food chains, whenever the staff would sweep the floor, they would always hit our feet with the rags used... and it's very rude, even if they said sorry... i do understand, they are so tired and they have to keep and maintain the store clean, but they should always do it carefully....

I've experienced this kind of thing, too, lots of times. It's irritating sometimes as some of them who bumps at you or whose mops touches your legs never even says sorry. Maybe they should do it around tables where there is no one eating, or do it later after the customers have left. I know there are times when the floor is really messy or muddy and all that. Spills, too , can be dangerous so there could be exemptions on that one. The problem is they don't seem to be too careful or sensitive about the customers eating and just go about their job as if no one's there at all.

I think it is ok as long as there are not any tables with food on them real close.

I am OK with wiping floors while we are eating coz most of the times I have seen people walking in with dirty boots and shoes (esp. in the monsoons) and then the entire floor looks too dirty for visual comfort. Also not everybody knows their bins properly and I see crumpled tissues lying on the floor too. Its best that they wipe the floor now and then, the eatery then looks squeaky clean.

of course if we are in the privacy of our homes i dont think its proper to do that with people around the table or nearby ..but since its a public place maybe the management instructed the service crew to always clean the table after customers been finish eating..but of course after they stand and go not when you are still in the table talking and preparing to leave..i guess its a bit rude to act that way...i had experience one when the service crew ask our permission if he could atleast get some emptied cups or whatever on our table..and we agreed ...

of course it's okay. if they didn't do this, it is part of their job, after all, then you would be eating from a table that hadn't been cleaned between customers, and walking on a floor that loads of people had dropped food on and walked on. and just think how many people eat at each table throughout the day. if it didn't get cleaned up, it would be gross by the end of the day

I think that's how a fastfood chain really works. They move real fast. They don't consider the people eating. It's a place to eat fast and get out. Not to hang around and be luxurious. It's a part of the fast paced world we live in. That's why those who prefer more luxurious dining go to high end and classy restaurants where they are treated more like kings and queens.

You mean, they (in fastfood chains) don't consider the people eating? So, I'd rather eat in a clean "karenderya" with simple and friendly owner and where I can choose a variety and cheaper viands.

Yup better karenderya. Lutong bahay and the food is cheaper and the service is more personalized. In the fast food chains they slam the chairs and trays around working fast, its annoying but thats what a fast food chain is.
