Attatched is a shot of one of the 7 various houses/shops that my mom made maybe 30 years ago or so. They are plastic with yarn sewn/crotched into it to make the designs. This is the toy factory. I also have a large long one which is the reindeer house. I have a post office and a bakery as well. So do you have any homemade decorations you cherish at all? Did you make them or someone else made them? Do you care to share a photo of your favorite homemade decoration(s) at all? These sit on my shelf above my TV this year. I love them. Some of them I take a cotton ball, pulling it to make smoke for the chimneys. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

What a cute little house and it is wondeful to have somehting to cherish forver that your mother made and you can hand them down for generations to come! I just have things my kids have made over the years otherwise all our Christmas decorations are ones that were bought. My mom gave me her avon Teddy Bear ornament collection although she didn't make it they were hers and I love them. I will hand them down someday too.

That's called plastic canvas and is pretty fun to do. You mom did a really good job on it...I'd love to see the others. I did a Christmas tree for my Mom several years ago with plastic canvas and add beads and glitter and little presents under it...when she gets it out of her Christmas stuff, I'll get a picture of it to post. She really loves it and puts it up every year. I have a whole box of plastic canvas stuff in a box in the closet...I love doing it but the cat loves attacking the yarn the whole time LOL ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND TRUST IN GOD**

Post Office - Another one of the houses etc.
Yeah that's waht it's called. Thanks. Here ios the Post Office one she did as well. I tried this once with her and just don't have the patience evidently as I gave up rather quickly. These have beads as well on them. Look at the doors closely. You can see the shiny beads used as door knobs. Thanks also and I'll be waiting to see your photo(s) as well. I am surprised that it last that long. Nice piece of art work. it takes hour of hours to do something like this. Our mothers were so talented my friend. My mother used to do pillows. She wouldn't if she could use Internet(!!!)...

Mom spent like 10 hours on each of the smaller ones. The reindeer house took her about 30 hours total she'd told me. I love them and store them in plastic bags and then inside a box all the time. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I still have the wooden Christmas tree and some of the ornaments I had made when I was in preschool. And I have the ceramic hand print decorations my kids made me when they were in preschool as well. I think I have two big drawers full of the little bead decorations they made me as well. I keep them all put up until the last minute so that my kitties don't try to use them for play toys. LOL

Thas GREAT Granpa Bob, thanks for sharing!! Yes, I have ornaments my kids made in grade school. Some of them they don't like for me to hang on the tree, but I still have them. I also have some precious letters they wrote. I like to make things for people too. Some really aprreciate them, and some do not value them as being anything special.

I didn't want to miss this one, Grandpa Bob. The toy factory is so beautiful. I love needlepoint, and admire those who do this type of craft. I'm really not very 'crafty.' What special memories things like this bring. We have a painted ornament that we hang on the tree each year. It's a little boy holding a Christmas package. We give it a place of honour on the tree, because my (late) husband made it, back when he was a Cub leader. It even has his Cub 'nickname' painted on it, which was Hathai (not sure of spelling.) Hathai is one of the Jungle Book characters, and all of the leaders had a nickname from this story. My daughter and I pause to remember him each year, as we hang this on the tree. Quite the emotional time, Christmas. I also have some ornaments that my daughter made at school when she was little. There are a couple of lovely beaded candy canes, and a wreath with a candle as well. There's a little Christmas tree with sparkles on it too, that she made in kindergarten (with help of course.) Since she's now seventeen, these are very special also. Congrats by the way. My 'digest' for today has three of your discussions. Take care.

My digest contains 10 discussions. Of these, 4 of them are yours. I missed one when counting. "Five," wow! I guess the fifth isn't one of my interests, if that's how the digest works. Keep up the good work.

I now see that what you've shared isn't needlepoint, but plastic canvas. In any case, they're all quite lovely. myLot is very educational too.

I have many that my kids have made while in school and a couple from grandkids but they are all in the attic right now. I don't care how they look because I know they were made with those tiny little hands with lots of love. I am so glad that you still have the things your mother made.

I think I have a few from my kids and grandkids as well. I've many things from her. As she was on deaths bed she told me what to take of hers. She knew I loved the items and would cherish them. Much more so than my other siblings would have. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes, I have a crocheted angel. She is pink and white and made by placing a paper cone underneath her outfit. She is beautiful and has a blonde yarn for her golden hair.Every year, she graces the top of my Christmas tree. I have never been able to accept any other angel but her now.

Hi GRANDPA, BOB, Your mother was very clever and the house is very beautiful it is something to keep for ever. Many years ago I had something like that to make but I didn't know how to and had no one to help so it still stuck in the cupboard somewhere. Tamara

It's nice that you still have that as a reminder of your mom. I don't really have any handmade items other than just a few my kids have made in school. I really enjoy getting items made by someone. To me these are much more meaningful than one store bought.

I love homemade items. I have tried to do plastic canvas and get frustrated with them. No matter how hard I try, the design doesn't come out the way it is supposed to.

Hi Bob sure its great work and more amazing is that u stil have it in good condition u know bobm if we go 25-30 yrs back, handicrafts fior drsses and home decoration was very common and people used to spend their time in such healthy hobbies, i am afraid this is what we are missing today we like to shop from Market rather than to make ourselves take care

Those houses/shops are great treasures, Bob. The one you pictured is beautiful. She had to put some hard work in those - lots of patience. I don't have any homemade decorations, but if I had something like that, I would sure take care of them.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I love that decoration! Your Mom was quite talented! I guess it runs in the family! It is still in perfect condition too. That's a great keepsake to hand down to Minnie and the kids! I love homemade decorations. No one in my family ever made things except one of my aunts. The only thing I have left that she made was a quilt that she crocheted. That is nice that you have such a beautiful memory from your Mom to share!
