I think the church is suppose to be the body of Christ though I might be wrong. You do not have to attend some huge over crowded building on a daily basis to get into heaven. That's just silly. I believe its the way you live your life. A person going to church every sunday does not mean they get to heaven.

Hey, I'm sure the originator of this discussion was looking for opinions. As we all know some things in the bible are open to discussion and opinion. After all no two preacher do the same exact sermon. I had to response to your comment after reading the not so plesant response from the Joejackass I mean joekickass.

of course you can. some people become christians on their deathbed and thusly havent been in a church. but if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you will naturally want to gather with other people of like faith and mind.

Where three are more is gather in my name is called a Church - this was said by the Lord. The Lord says that it is good to have fellowship with your brethren. This is the reason why you have pastors and elders. Remember you cannot know everything and even though you may be discourage about attending church pray about it and fellowship with your brethen this is were your strength in Christ will grow.

I know it says that where people are gathered that God is there, but where does it say that it's called a church? I'm really not thinking it does, but please show me if it does.

I would define "church" as a group of people with a common belief.

if your asking just because this is a doubt of yours, than read and learn, but if your a christian and dont know let me tell you this, if you are not going to church its going to be easier for the enemy to come into your life and take away what God has given to you, his joy, love, grace, spirit, strength,. God doesnt need you to go to church as long as you promise to dedicate every day to him, to wake up and say thank you God for this day, I worship you, give to God the 10% of what you resieve and dedicate to him at least one day fully. good luck and God bless...

Well I think that definition varies depending on a persons type of worship. I'm Apostalic, Holiness and we believe the church is the body of Christ, not the building you worship in.My place of worship is called The United House Of Prayer For All People, Some people may say we are going to chruch, we say we are going to the House of Prayer, not church because they are too different meanigs... King James, Ephesians 1:22-23 reads "And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all". Also Isaiah 56:7 says, " My house shall be called a House of prayer for all people". I hope this helps

If you truly live by the teaching of Jesus you will have no need for a church. Jesus put His church in the homes of the people. We are to depend on the Anointing of the Holy Ghost and it goes where ever we go.

most people take the church to be a physical place because that's what a church is. A place where people who believe in the same faith go to. however, the church is more likely to be the gathered people. Jesus said that the church is the bride and He is the bridegroom. i certainly don't think he was referring to the building/place. Instead, he's referring to us

You don't need to go to a church church to go to heaven. However, you're disabling your Christian walk if you don't have any fellowship with believers. Being part of a community of believers is the important part of a church. Church is the body of Christ, all churches and believers together in the world. ~Jesus loves you and I do too!~
