We parents sometimes overdo the toy shopping part. Most than not, we tend to buy toys that are not much of that important to our kids development. sometimes we tend to buy expensive toys but are not sure of the quality or how it is going to help our kids.. When my kids want some toys, we discuss it first before buying it. There are test that we conduct before buying, some simple question like is it durable? is it expensive? or is the measures up to its quality? Since I have my kids I am always in search for the kind of toys that can give me more than a higher price. Talks about quality over the price. So far I have only one toy in my mind that measures up to this standard. These are building blocks toy. Aside from I grew up playing Lego, I really do believe on the benefits of these kinds of toy. Now that I have kids, I am crazy buying a lot of Mega bloks toy. These kind of toy is really worth my money. They are very durable and really last that long. They are so attractive that even my 6 month old baby wants to play with it. It also encourage creativity with the kids. How about you guys? what do you think is the best toy for your babies?

When my daughter was a aby, I think the best toy she had was the musical toy that played "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". She grew up hearing that song and I also sang it to her to go to sleep. Until now that she's 2 years old, she still asks me to sing it when she want to go to sleep. Talk about mind retention. LOL!

I have a new grandson. He is 12 weeks and I bought him a toy wand thing that plays this and he loves it so much. He laughs and chuckles when I sing along to it. I know how you feel about the song all the time though.

My children all played for hours with mega bloks. They are excellent and they all seen to love building and creating things with them. There is other block and building toys you could try also if you want a change for them. My children are bigger now and I am not to sure of the names but have a good look around in the bigger toy shops for them.

TO me the best toy is one the being out their imagination and one they can play with by themselves or with others. When we where growing up we use to play in the yard with the hose and make it the Star ship Enterprise and would play Startrek with friends. We also would play with rock and sticks and other fun things like that. We did have a few dolls but we spent the majority of our time when it was nice outdoors. We had a rope swing and spent hours swinging. We could entertaining ourselves.

I like the toys that make a child think. Like Legos or Lincoln Logs. I also like the stacking rings. They are colorful. I just got some of those for my grandson. There are too many toys nowadays that don't make the child think or do anything and they are noisy. I think a toy should help the child think and be creative as well as use their hands and feet.

I totally agree. The toys that are available today are either very small and too complicated, or very large and unpurposeful. However, the shapes and the box cannot be forgotten. But it also could be preparing the children for the world they will live in. With all of the new inventions and innovations the world will soon change and our way of thinking will be massively outdated.

hello pehpot! Like you, I think building blocks, or lego, or any toy similar to that is the best toy for the kids. It is fun and educational at the same time. when I buy toys for my kid or my godchildren, I always look for the educational one. It will help the kid grow smarter. have fun!

that idea of yours is great, you have a nice choice. Mind games at young age is very helpful for the developing mind of children, especially toddlers. You can also try some sports toys that is less harmful for them.

I love mega bloks. I think it really depends on the kid. My 2 year old loves anything having to do with cartoons. My 4 month old isn't interested in toys yet. My 7 year old step son seems to only like whatever his sister is playing with. I would love to have my kids get interested in learning toys but they have no interest.

I agree with you Mega bloks toys and legos are among the best toys for children, in that they appeal to the child's imagination, and are especially good learning tools for growth and development by expanding the child's mind. All toys that are geared toward educating the child in someway in addition to entertaining the child and bringing him or her joy are the best toys for a child to have. My mother bought my brothers and me legos when we were in our early years of elementary school, and we played with them all of the time, and really found great joy in playing with them. We created whatever was in our imagination. Of all the toys my brothers and I had as children, the legos were the best we ever had. We really got a lot of enjoyment and use out of them.

educational toys - educational toys enhance intellectual, social, emotional, and/or physical development
I still do not have a baby but me and my cousins are thinking of buying our nephew and baby cousin educational toys so that they will grow as strategic and bright kids just like me. Just kidding!

i have older children and i really like toys that make them use their brain and imagination. i usually always get them legos, or some kind of science experiment or craft that they can make. they enjoy it, and it gives them a chance to use their mind. there are so many great toys out there for kids, but those are my favorites.

When it comes to toys... i don't realy buy my two year old a lot... because my sister from the US would always send her educational toys that my daughter really loves... these are the toys that teach her how to sing... count... and the alphabet... and these christmas... for sure my sister would send more toys for my daughter... they are quite expensive if bought here in the Philippines... but she usually buys them during sales... so she can save more...

I have one lovely daughter 6 month old,i think for the kids the high-colored toy and musical toy is better, because when the kids grew up,they need the color and sound stimulated, that's much better can promote kids grew up and creative as well as the kids hands and feet,so i'd like buy above toy to my daughter.

when my kids were so young, i would buy them toys that are big coz of safety reasons...lego is great, it probes their creativity. i gave them lego when they were more than one year old. but now they have their own preference of what toys they would like us to give them...

both my girls had mega blocks when they were younger and they were great for them stickle bricks are also good.but my eldest now doesnt really play with toys and my youngest we have to watch what we buy for her due to her condition.she likes repetative play but not with too many buttons as that is all she will do.best thing we found for her is threading things.buttons, foam cards and things like that.colouring is good fot her as well but she likes you to choose the colours.so we loose hours just doin that lol
