Remembering holidays by the book I read

The USA celebrates their Thanksgiving holiday this week. For me that means time driving to get to family, and extra time on my hands during the days off. I like to choose a book to read and make it a goal to have it read before getting back home.
I have learned over the years to be very choosy about what I read at these times because my memories get tied to the book I am reading. I remember the family football game, Aunt so-and-so being disappointed that her casserole tasted funny, and cousin Johnny stuck under the house playing hide and seek were all the year I read _________________.
Does this happen to you? Do you remember what you were reading in special times in your life?

Acutally I don't......I do remember sitting on my bedroom floor reading poetry before I was a teen....I don't remember what book it was but I know it was poetry...I also remember reading Rosemary's baby when I was pregnant with my first daughter back in 1970....I was terrified the next month or so after finishing the book....

Hi Pots
Well, we dont have such long vacations on relegious event like Eids, maximum its 3-4 day. And to be honest these are so busy days that u cant read book, guests ( both relative, friends) are coming in. Or we are going to their places.
Kids are enjoying, too much activities going on. and other things i am not good at remembering things so even if i read book, its hard for me to corelate with events
Take care and enjoy upcoming Thanks Giving and Long week end

I am so glad that reading while traveling is not hard for me. I know many people who simply can NOT do it.
Ah, that is just the thing, my friend... I don't seem to get the reading time I want during the whole year, I was hoping for some reading time while away from my busy life.

Not exactly books but more on the songs. I still remember one summer, we went swimming on a private pool and we really had a good time. we had the pool just all by ourselves so we sort of danced in the pool while the song "What Can I Do" by the Corrs. Now, every time i hear that song, i can't help but smile because it always brings back the memory of that summer.

Oh yes, I am like that with music too, sweetie1026. Most songs that came out in my youth I always remember what summer it was being played the most. My local radio station has call in competitions about the year songs came out and I always know them..... I just never bother to call. Oh, all the concert tickets I could have won in my day. lol
