What is your religion or belief system?

I see so many discussions here of hatered and with a pure lack of respect for other human beings and their choices for belief that I thought I would try an informative post that can respect and welcome ALL belief's. So can you please take a minute to Put what your religion, or belief system is, and one or two things that you believe or practice with regards to that belief system. Thank-you so much everyone. I will say that I am a spiritualist, kind of a spin of off the "Traditional Christian" A couple of MY PERSONAL Beliefs are: 1)The Bible is an eloquently written book of poetry; as with anything in your life you cannot live your life by a book, there are exceptions to every rule. 2)I have a personal relationship with my God, as I percieve him. There is no requirement to attend a church, or organization to continue or maintain this relationship. Let's make this as informative and use this as an educational tool to respect even if we do not agree or feel the same. I find a lot of the lack of respect for other religions/beliefs is due to ignorance (either lack of information or lack of wanting to get the information.)

I define myself as a henoteist, which can translate as devotion to one God, while accepting the possible existence of other deities. A couple of MY PERSONAL Beliefs are: 1) The similarities of the ancient myths and religions seem highlight the existence of a superior being that brought life to Earth. I consider the Earth's oldest beliefs as being closer to what the modern religions tend to conceptualize as "Truth". 2) Despite the proselytic preaching of the clergy, all major religions of the world (Christian, Hindu, Islamic, Judaic, Shintoist, Buddhist, etc) tend to be REGIONAL, a fact that emphasize their clear human construction, rather their birth after a divine intervention. Among these, the monoteistic ones tend to be corrupted, mainly due to their heavy use as political instruments. The fact that all religions split the human beings into "faitful" and "non-faitful" highlights their volatility when it comes to the genuine value of a soul, to the genuine value of a God's child, while reflecting a tragic system of value: no God (either Islamic, Judaic, Christian) can unconditionally love His children. 3) I picture my God in a Christian perichores conceptualization, mainly due to the fact that the religion of my parents altered my system of value. I don't think that i need an interface (Church/priest) in order to maintain the relationship with Him. I think between God and me there is a given symbiosis. I think, that my God loves me unconditionally, because I'm His creation and because my body/mind are just "hosts" for my soul (which is a small part of God Himself).

I too also have many of the same ideas as you, mainly because of my studies of ancient mid eastern and far east religions.

I am new to all these new things. (maybe it is not so new) Sorry for butting in. I used to go to church, but I did not like being preached to. I read my Bible every night because I like it and I believe it to be true, but I love the history of it all and I believe there is someone out there that created us. Do you know what I would be then as I say "I am just me" to people as I give up on my born religion years ago. Many thanks.

My religion is Christianity. My beliefs are that Jesus Christ come to earth because God the father see Men as failure and so he send his sinless son to do what man cannot do. In my beliefs I see God as the father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Ghost the comforter/teacher. I believe that if person takes time out and study the bible he/she will see that everything in there is the truth and that if we applied the teaching then our world will be a prefect one.

I do not go to church kerriannc, but I do love to read my Bible every night in bed. I love to read it my way for myself. I was brought up Christian but lost faith in my church because they disowned me when I got pregnant at 17 years. I stopped going all those years ago because they would not baptise/christen my daughter. I do not send my children to church or sunday school because of all this and it breaks my heart them not knowing God because I robbed him from them.

Hi hildas, sorry for what you went through. You see this is how men behave they think that they are the ones to judge. Don't deprive your children from attending church/sunday school. Allow them to go. You see, the bible says that the parents carry the sin of the children until they reach the age of 12. So allow them to go. It was this morning 27/11 while traveling to work on the bus myself and this young lady was talking about religion. She was saying that because of person practicing religion we have lost what we need the most which is LOVE. I am in total agreement with her. I used to stop going to church in the late 90's because of what the preacher's were telling the congregation "God is coming in the year 2000". I was total against this sermon because if we know the bible we will understand that in his words Jesus says "no one knowneth the time nor hour when God shall arrive. He also says that he can return as a thief in the night." Not saying that he will be returning like a thief in the night. We just has to be vigil. Forgive them because God says that we should forgive in order for him to forgive us. Love, forgive and praise God my friend and you will have a loving and long lasting life. All the best Kerri

Well, I'm christian, orthodox, to be more specifically. Without religion there wouldn't be such an order. And there is God, no doubt about it, so the diversity of religion is the diversity of God.

I am a Pagan Buddhist who also practices Vodou and have some Native American beliefs as well...I'd also like to say for the record too that so many ppl are SO MISTAKEN in thinking that those of us who are NON Christian are Christian haters..thats NOT the case more often than not...In fact for me personally, I have no issues with ANY religion...Whatever works for a person ya know...what I DO have issues with however is ignorant, narrowminded ppl who hide behind their religion or use their religion as justification to be A-holes...THAT infuriates me...

I hear you for sure on that Raven!!! It infuriates me as well...I don't know why people can't believe what they believe and let others believe what they believe. Life would be so much simpler if people realized it is only them they need worry about!!!! :) Cheers my friend!!!

I was raised Catholic and when I decide to worship with others I will go to a Catholic church. But I don't think that any religion is better than any other. I beieve that most people of faith are good people (except those who fee God wants them to eliminate any one who is not of their belief). Most Christians all beieve basically the same thing, they just have different rules especially the catholic church which is one reason I don't respect the religion like I once did.

Sure you do, you have a personal religion then eh? You believe in something, your way, I would say that kinda makes you spiritually connected at the very least!
