Sometimes I happened to come across very old postings but very interesting, postings may be over one month or more. I was wondering responding to those discussion is right or not? Probably I shall earn money, but anyone going to read that? From my experiences I only browse through first pages of postings under various menus, hardly I browse rest of the pages. It seems to me that old postings are like dead postings.

Sometimes you just can't help yourself. Some topics need to be brought up again. For instance, I saw a lot of topics about Reverend Wright brought back to surface at the end of the election. Some topics like missing persons need to be updated. And sometimes we just like to get our two cents in...

Exactly. Sometimes you just have to. There are times when you need to bring a topic back up. And some discussions are always topical. Happy myLotting! :)

I remember that there were a couple of times that I was responding to a discussion that catches my interest which I just immediately write what I should say then I noticed that it was 1 year older already. I don't know what that member would think when s/he got a notification. That person must be laughing out.

Sure, I'd say there's nothing at all wrong with that. I am glad that you are bringing interesting old discussions to life, the newer ones are just whatever people happen to be writing at the time and aren't always enough food for thought. It is nice to have a little variety and if that means looking back through the archives that's no problem. I hope you are successful at reviving some interesting discussions.

Not to mention how many newer posts are the same! I actually search for the older posts if I find a popular topic I'm interested in. It would really behoove MyLot and all of us to institute some sort of system which brings the better written threads to the top - and/or weeds-out the poorly-written copies of older discussions.

yeah, its nothing wrong to respond to the old postings as long as u find it interesting..i have responded to some old postings because it seemed very wonderful to me...i think the reason of a good discussion with few response is they are not posted the hot block of interest and so few people will see them..or perhaps they are posted in a "wrong" peroid of time..i mean not in the peak of time...i think u can start a similar discussion again if u find some old but interesting ones..have a nice day and happy mylotting:)

There is no provision that it is prohibited in responding to those old posts. One time I was responding to a discussion that caught my interest and so I decided to just write something in it and when I'm finished I go back at the top and it caught in my eyes that the discussion is already a year older. Nothing in the terms and guidelines that it is not allowed.

Hello mokbul! Honestly, I am guilty of answering some old posts. But I don't think it's a violation or wrong to do. I am active now in mylot and whoever responded to my discussion I went to their profile and find some interesting topics that would interest me even the very old topics. I also went to my friends profile and look for their interesting topics

Thanks for sharing your opinion. Some of the old postings are really interesting and I simply could not resist to endorse my comment there

I'm pretty sure that's preferred as opposed to create a new discussion about the same subject. I haven't had the time to either start new discussions or browse older ones, because every time I'm around I always find a new discussion to join in the front page. So bump some oldies up! There's always new people (like me) who aren't even aware of those old posts. Rich

Well, a lot of times there are people who will post back to older discussions, or take time to respond back to some of them to keep them moving as well. I know I often will bring some of my older ones to the forefront, and sometimes I will get a lot of New responses to them again as well. Personally, I just will sometimes go and visit my friends profiles and see which discussions of theirs I have not already responded too, or I will find other things to respond back too as well.

nothing "right or wrong" about it. if you would like to respond to the discussion, then by all means go ahead and respond. its true that you might not get any kind of response..however you could bring an old discussion back into the spotlight for new postings again. ive done that before. and whether or not the discussion is old, makes no difference in what you may or may not earn from posting to it.

Hello, mokbul. I think that it is completely right to respond to those old posts. It doesn't matter, they can be a year, a month or a week old. If you feel nice, then respond to them. You will earn money normally, and the creator will be notified that you responded to his discussion. Sometimes you can bring back an old discussion by doing this. People will start then responding again to that discussion. If you have something to add to the discussion that nobody has, then why not give it a try? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Do not worry about what is he going to think. If the post is too old, he might not even be active anymore. Just do it if you feel like doing it, as I said. It'll still earn you money.

This is a great post I was just thinking about this myself. I am pretty new here to mylot and I am not sure what is considered acceptable or not. Thank you.

I have done that. You still earn money. And you may just revive interest. It is always good to revive interest. And some discussions will just always be topical. :) So, no need to worry about it! :) Happy myLotting! :)

By all means mokbul, you're free to do so. I'm sure the author of the discussion will be delighted by your posting. and you never know, people might just take the time to read them. or they could stumble upon it like say, when searching for tags. :)

i also do posting from old discussion because sometimes i'm not so fond of the topic of new discussions so i tend to look at the old posting and started posting my response there. i don't know if it would affect the our ratings with this.
