Sometimes I have fun with some imponderables. One has been in my mind more and more lately.
If they are telling us that we should eat balanced meals. Have smaller portions for better health and weight management.... why are the plates we buy getting bigger? ANd why are restaurants luring people to supersize their meals?
More to the point..... when did we reach the stage where ads are more powerful than health concerns?
Hmmmmmmmm

ha ha ha ha ha... well, when you supersize your meal, you will actually have to pay more for that few more mouthfuls of food.
That is the gimmick they use.
Take for example, the regular meal you used to get becomes a supersized one now.
And they reduce the portions a little to come up with the regualr meal you see today. Then you have to pay more to get back the same portions you used to get.
And being used to eating a certain portion of food, you will naturally pay the extra to get back the same portion you regularly eat in order to feel full.
Health concerns aside, it is all marketing and gimmicks to make you spend more.

Of course it is but the worst part is that we fall for it.
I have seen people supersizing their drink or fries just because but in the end they don't even eat or drink them all. That's crazy what we do when we think we're getting a bargain somehow.

Plates are getting bigger so that we can be lured into filling them with cheap stuff that makes us feel like we are getting a bargain. It keeps us coming back to the restaurants, etc. The supersize meals are supersize on high profit items. They never offer to supersize us with an extra piece of lean meat or a bigger salad. It is pop, or fries, which are cheap items.

I don't know why the plats are getting bigger It's a good question. When my kids were little and we went to McDonald's the regular size drinks were 8 oz. a burger was smaller. I think that there is a conspiracy to ruin our health. The real reason is the bottom dollar. Even regular restaurants over load the plates. I would think that there would be more profit in smaller meals. The price of those burgers are going to go up soon. as those raising cattle are cutting back on the number raised for the market. Just maybe that will slow people down.

I heard from an older friend, that macdonald's drinks were what is now the child's size drink LOL
It's not necessary a conspiracy to ruin our health directly, just the greed to make us spend more money on junk and think we're really eating well ( well meaning more, not better ) .
Supersizing is just a way to make us spend more money of course. It costs more to supersize, of course. See people can't miss a bargain as a rule. So they see supersizing as a bargain and buy it even if in the end they don't eat or drink it all.
What do they care if we have it all or not? all they need is to sell it!
