Have you ever seen one of these, I have and I see them all the time. I live in the south and I see them on the highways as road kill, I see them in fields in people yards and I have seen them on power lines. This is a opossum and they are the size of a cat; grey to black fur, black eyes, pink nose, feet and tail, black ears and pointed nose. Have you ever seen one?

Living in the South, I'd think it would be funny if we had never seen an opposum, which e refer to as 'possum'. Man, do we see the roadkill around here! I try my best to miss them when I see them on the road, but sometimes it is impossible.

Me too, I try to avoid killing any of the animals, I hit a cat once and almost had a wreck. It was strange too he had made it across the street clear, saw my head lights and started back toward my car at high speed, I didn't have time to stop it was at night. I wonder did he have rabies because it was strange the way he did it.

Who have had a family of opossum's living in our back yard for years. we see them daily or rather more like nightly. along with tons of squirrls and raccoons. we live in a very urban area too. that is just how it is here in sunny south florida. I think they are rather unattractive, but then again I am not much of an animal lover to begin with. They don't really bother anyone, but my 15 month old grandson gets a kick out of seeing the wildlife around.

yes i have seen them. they really creep me out too. they look like a really big rat. one day at was at my sister's house and we were going out her back door out onto her terrace/deck and all the sudden i heard this hissing sound and i looked to my right and sitting on the railing was a huge opossum and it was hissing at us. it had it's teeth bared and it was really mean looking. needless to say we ran back inside and went out the front door instead.

They are cute little thing. We had one living in our back yard when I was a kid. He would walk on the fence every evening. That was the only time I saw him. When I was in Australia there was a camp type of youth hostel that had tons of them. They would com into the open kitchen at night for handouts. They were adorable. We were told not to touch them, but I petted them as they were quite tame and used to humans.

I see opossum sometimes. We get them in our yard sometimes and the dog catches them if they aren't too big. I also see them on the roads. They are very common here in Florida.

Chevee, I live in Kansas, and we have them all over the place, including on my back porch. Once I had my backdoor open and one came in. I used to have pictures of my husband picking a baby one out of our cherry tree. First one I ever saw was a baby that had crawled into the bottom of our trash can and could not get out. I thought that it might have been a big rat.

I've never seen one of those before. I think that if I did, I would mistake it for a giant rat, and be a bit alarmed, lol! I have seen tree possums in Australia, from a distance. Are they the same things as opossoms? I thought the aussie ones were a lot smaller, but I might be wrong. Perhaps they're related to eachother?

I came face to face with one! Just last year, there was a baby opossum on our deck. I had put some food out there for a stray cat and the opossum found it. I tried to shoo him away, but he wouldn't budge... he played "possum". I ended up putting some cat food inside a humane trap and caught the little guy. I drove him a few miles away and released him into a wooded area. He was so cute, well, in an ugly sort of way. LOL I saw a HUGE opossum once, too. But, that one was on his way somewhere so I didn't bother him and he didn't bother me.

Yes I have seen them from time to time. Had one in my recycling bin yesterday, take a look at the link.
We have often seen our recycling bins turned over by animals but yesterday morning we found an animal in the paper recycling bin, and the bin was completely...
