I usually practice a bit the day before the concert and the day of, just to reassure myself that it will be okay. And I try to make sure my nails are clipped short if they need to be and that I don't do anything that might hurt my hands or fingers before the concert. What do you do to prepare for a concert?

Practice one last round before the next day. The next morning prepare and make sure all the gears in good condition, cables, batteries, strings are all in good shape. Usually we go for soundcheck in the morning and setting up the instruments before the concert in the evening. Make sure to have backup of batteries or cables and any other stuff since nobody will know what will happen during the concert.

Those are excellent points you have there. I don't know how I overlooked that, I don't have extra strings in my case at the moment. Luckily I do have some here somewhere though, I'll have to find them before I leave tomorrow for the concert.

It has been such a long time since I had to prepare for a concert but what I remember is getting dressed and having that last rehearsal and either hoping that we could bottle it and save it for the performance or hoping that we soo much better during the performance. You8 are braver than I. I would Never try to clip my nails right before a performance. I would be so scared that I would clip them too closely. I remember one time right before a concert, I fell down a small flight of stairs. I didn't hurt my hands thank G-d but I hurt the top of my left foot. Thankfully I was in the orchestra and I didn't have to stand and play.

I normally clip my nails too closely, but I'm much more careful before a concert. I just met back with the orchestra today, but I don't know if I can be in it this time because the concert is on a night when I'll have class... and it might even be on the date of the final, I have to find out.

I ended up having to drop out because the concert was on the day of my lab final. :( I guess last quarter might have been it for me on orchestra. Because next quarter I'll have to take 20 units so I probably won't be able to squeeze it in.

Good idea. I remember when I was in choir if anyone drank milk or ate dairy products they were also told not to do so for at least one day before the concert.
