Well I never..... I am happy to see that you worked this out after all this time riya!
I had notifications on for about a week when I first joined and then ended up turning it off so fast it wasn't funny. The constant barrage of emails ended up driving me absolutely insane, so I have never switched notifications back on since. Hopefully you will find this functionality more beneficial than I did.

That's good to know Riya. I used to have notifications on for all my friends. That was way back when I started off but guess what, my mail box was deluged with those! Then I decided to put it off. Now, when I tried to put that on for some friends, it didn't work, may be a glitch. So, the bottomline, it NEVER quite worked for me.

I was aware about it i.e. how to keep the notification 'on', as far as discussion started by our dear friends are concerned. However, I keep the notification 'on' for selective friends. It is not possible to reply to all discussion. I sometimes, do it through rotation. For you my notification remains 'on', so whenever you start a new discussion, I immediately come to know about it.

You may do so, it will be useful for you to reply and check a bit less e-mail notifications.

I found that long, long ago. Had them on for a while, couldn't keep up, turned them all off.

Ha!ha!ha! You mean after all those months you've been here you just learned how to put it on. It's easier if the notification for friends are turned on because it gives you easy access to on the new topics posted by friends. I have put on all notifications of friends whose topics have consistently been appealing to me and also those who are consistently supporting me as well so I can return the favor. I have put off those who do not show support and also those whose topics do not interest me at all. I don't want my e-mails to be flooded with notifications of uninteresting topics.

Heehee. I found it a long time ago........well, at least 5 months ago, but, I still have to try to figure it out every time I want to turn it on or off. I forget from one time to the next what to do. I am such a ditz, sometimes.*L*
I was going to turn all notifications off while I was gone for a week,(didn't want to come back to a stuffed mailbox) but I forgot where to go to do it, so everything was left on. THAT was fun, going through my e-mail when I got home! *smacks hand against forehead*
