Well, it does happen but it does not mean that it is harmless. One cause is one tendon sliding and popping over another and that can cause inflammation (tendinitis).
Another is pressure releasing from a joint, like cracking knuckles or be due to rough or broken cartilage in a joint, or inflamed tissues being rubbed together.
Cracking in the hips can be caused by not controlling the movement properly.
Most have to do with proper placement of the body and body parts. So if you have a lot of popping and cracking, it is good to find out why. If your teacher does not know why, then it is a good time to find a teacher who does know how to fix it.
