I have been asked how much longer the show will be airing. See the USA Networks Note: "Debuting Summer 2009, Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award winner Tony Shalhoub returns as the obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk in the 8th and final season of the hit comedy series Monk. With 16 brand-new laugh-inducing episodes, the final season promises to be a memorable one for all Monk fans. So tune in to USA Network this summer and watch one of the most successful series in basic cable history give its final fair well." I'm not happy about it. We have viewed 9 episodes of season 7 and the show returns in January.

I agree there are a lot of shows that are a complete waste of time. I will watch all the 2009 episodes, then have more time for other activities. I haven't been adding shows, so it will mean less television.

I always wonder why the good shows get cancelled. I think they seriously need some new writers.....seems like when something is good they should keep it on..but then again maybe they are running out of ideas for the program. Monk is a very lovable charater! He will be missed by many....even me who only watches tv ocassionally!

The high cost is the reason the show is ending. I'll enjoy all the episodes Thanks for the reply.

Oh, no! Monk was the best portrayal of a disabled person on TV. He showed that we've not helpless. I'm so sad. I feel like he really improved the image of people with disabilities even though he didn't really have one himself. I'll miss him on Fridays!

I do love the show but we always have reruns. I did not realize it has been on for 7 years already. I do like Nattily better than the first assistant.

I am sorry to hear that. Monk is one of my favourite shows. The clues that lead Adrian Monk to solve the cases are always logical and plausible. The structure of chapters let the audience to play detectives for a while. Very often facts which seem to have no significance give Monk the key to arrest the culprit. Moreover, his mental disorder is the source of many funny situations although this kind of humor eventually become repetitive. Nevertheless, Monk“s cancellation is a big loss for the American television.
