I can't help but comment on this one. It's pretty obvious that people who posted the photos are not really Japanese, neither do they know how to speak or write them. I think most, if not all, of the characters there are actually Chinese, and not Japanese. I should know, because I'm Chinese. What do you think about that guys? How do we change or make people or mylot know that those should be changed?

A far as I know Chinese characters are a part of the Japanese language. It is no wonder that you recognize the characters, they look Chinese because they ARE Chinese or because they originate in the Chinese language. Some of my friends are Japansese and some are Chinese and they once told me that they can sort of understand eachother if they write, but they can't understand eachother if they speak Japanese and Chinese, so I guess that spoken Japanese and spoken Chinese are not as similar as written Japanese and written Chinese.

ladymargrett, Japan also use Chinese characters which they call 'kanji'(literally means Han characters). they use it along with their syllabary hiragana and katakana. they have adapted it from the Chinese since Japan was colonized by them before(particularly by 'Han dynasty'). if you want to know more, visit this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji
