What time is it?

I live near a set of 2 train tracks. Each morning I know that there are 2 trains that sit on the tracks blocking traffic for 10 minutes at almost 10a.m. But yet, I am such an idiot, I always seem to leave my house to buy cigarettes or donuts at that time going the route that crosses the train tracks. I never take another route or go to a different store etc. I always sit there going nuts for a smoke as well as waiting. Why can't I get it in my head that I know the trains will stop me from getting to the smoke shop or bakery right away? Why can't I wait 15 minutes or leave earlier? Do you do things along this line knowing you'll be held up at the same time each day? Do you still forge ahead with your plans knowing the delay will be there? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You buy donuts that often??? Are you a retired police officer or something? (Just kidding i have a lot of respect for anyone that puts their life on the line for others) I forget more then I can keep track of. we all do it. those that say that they don't forget things are just not aware that they forget...

No way GB. I can't say that I do that, there is a train track on one of the streets that I use to go to work. No way will I go that way on my way to work. If that train is there I will be late for work, now on my way home I will take a chance and go that way. I couldn't risk getting a point being late.

Lol, you are a creature of habit. It fits into your schedule and you just do it. Maybe you need to post a note at the door or something to remind you to wait a little bit;) Or maybe it's that inner kid in you that wants to watch the trains, lol.

Hi GRANDPA BOB, i don't know what it is with us humans, I suppose its a habit to go the same way everyday although it will hold us up, I think its the store that we like to go to as well and won't go to any other, strange humans. Tamara

It's not really habit. It is that the store I prefer and the closest is just the other side of the tracks. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes! I do this also. I drive to our local shop around 4.30pm and I know the workers from the local factory get out at this time and the roads always very busy to turn onto. I have done this everyday last week and kept doing it knowing that I am going to sit in traffic for 10 minutes. Why we keep doing it is beyond me. If we leave earlier or later it would make more sense, but we still do this. I think we just get into a routine and 10 minutes before or after might not suit us as well. Well I am not sure. I am glad you enjoy your donuts. I know what it is like not getting a smoke and sitting in traffic waiting to buy them. I get road rage and usually get impatience.

Grandpa Bob, that is just too funny! Yes, I can relate to that most thoroughly! As when the mood strikes that when I just gotta do something.. usually its housework just before I need to be leaving the house for some function.. whether this is a subconscious delaying tactic, or I just like to come home with some of that done, I'm not sure! And then of course there are those little forgetful things that I manage to drive myself buggy with too! I've come to the conclusion that we human beings are rather humorous in many ways.

What time is it? It may just be time to cut down othe caffeine Grandpa Bob! I used to have a similar habit of completely ignoring the fact that peak hour traffic is at a certain time each day and would then kick myself for not leaving a few minutes earlier..... But aside from this example, I seem to have improved over time and am far better organized these days. This could actually be a very good thing if you're into trains! lol.

Hi Grandpa B, You are funny,LOL! I guess you need to have a reminder in your door about it, LOL! Anyway, Thanks for making me smile early today! I am paranoid about time, when I have an appointment, I used to be there 45 or 30 minutes earlier especially when I was working! I hate traffic or anything that will keep me waiting so, I always avoid those situations...ENjoy!

No I have not done that because I do not drive. I do ride the bus for the handicapped and am ready in the morning at 7am when I know they do not pick me up until 8am. I can be picked up anywhere from 7:30 to 8:00 am so I do not want to make the bus wait for me. I have my keys in the door and my stuff packed and ready sitting at the door way. Then I tend to pace the floor or I get a craft out and do a craft until the bus pulls up for me.

I leave the house everyday early......but that doesn't mean I won't have to wait for a train! I have one not too far from my house and sometimes we are not on the same schedule! LOL....I am one that is usually early and know approximately what time I'll get someplace...and I allow time for interuptions...like traffic lights etc.

We do this almost every morning.. As we are leaving our house, the traffic is so bad on our road that you can't even get out of the driveway.. We sit at the end of our driveway cursing, fretting and fuming about all of the people who use our road to get from point A to point B and make it impossible for us to get out of our driveway.. It is a big problem on our road and with all of the construction around our area, you can't get out between 6:00 to 8:00 and then again between 4:00 to 6:00.. That is everyone's going to work and getting off time, so our neighborhood is disrupted at these times everyday, except for the weekends, then all is calm..

what you need to do , my friend, is plan ahead.go to the store the day before . donuts are just as good the next day, sometimes even better. if you have a microwave ,put butter on it and put it in the micro for a few seconds ,and jouilla, you have yummies. or, you could get up earlier, and then the train wouldn't stop you. you did say it comes by the same time every day. change your schedule to suit your needs

We are such creatures of habit! Maybe your subconscous is trying to tell you to quit smoking and eating junk??? See, you're putting yourself through such torture every day for this, mabye someone's trying to tell you someting - hahahaha I can remember when I lived in this one neighborhood, I always took the route out that had a bus stop on every corner. I'd end up behind a school bus every day wondering why I didn't leave the house 5 minutes earlier, or take a different way out of the community.

Hey Grandpa Bob! I know what you mean! I've done something like that too! I will go to the store around the time when I know it will be the most crowded. I will try to leave earlier or later so I will miss the crowds, but I don't. It just becomes some kind of stupid habit. I don't now why I do it but I do. I should also leave earlier, but I never end up doing it. Even though I know I will get caught in the mess I still don't manage to get out earlier. So I guess it's kind of the same thing that you do! And I'm sure that you ask yourself the same question every morning while your're waiting for those trains to pass! But, still you do it again and again! And then you say "What an idiot!"lol
