I am living in Poland (country in centre of Europe). If I really need something from my parents or if I want to do them pleasure I call my Father 'Tatus', what is meaning 'Daddy' and my Mother 'Mamusia' what is meaning 'Mommy'. Also I use 'Tata' meaning 'Dad' and 'Mama' means Mom. Greetings :)

I like the names you use for your parents. They are both nice words to call them. I have never heard "Baba" before but it sounds really well. I call my Mother "Mummy" and my Dad I call by his first name which is "Gawn". I have always called him this from a small child and it has stuck for 38 years. My Children call me "Mummy" and their Father "Daddy" as they have done this from they where very little.

All the words seem to be a little similar. In Swedish it is mamma and pappa. More formal words are mor and far.

I think mine is different than what you have heard. But most of them in my country calls their parents like that. I call my mother Amma and for my father I call him thaththa. Some says Amma for mother and Appachchi for father. Some says Ammi for mother and Thaththi for father.

I call my parents, "Papa" and "Mama". Some of my brothers and sisters call them "Daddy" or "De" and "Mommy" or "Me". We are 9 children in the family and we call our parents according to our preference.

Well, that is a interesting question. In our country,China, people say "dai" for father and "niang" for mother in the past. But,now, more and more people, in particular the young one, begin to say "baba" for father and "mama" for mother. It is a trend. As to me,i still say "dai" and "niang".
