My dad liked to drink. There was many a night he didn't even bother coming home from work because he'd stopped at the taproom and forgot he had a home. There were other times that he'd stop by when he had me with him and I'd sit at the bar eating peanuts and pretzels and a meatball sandwich feeling like a bigshot or playing shuffleboard with the sawdusted freestanding board and disk. Sometimes, he'd even let me sit in his lap behind the wheel of the car to steer as we got near home.
