If you could read a blog about bringing home a new puppy would you do it? What advice would you give a new puppy owner?

I would read it if I was going to buy a new puppy. I'd have to mention that it takes a lot of patience when training a new puppy.

I even blog about my dog. He just celebrated his 4th birthday last November 28. I advice you to treat your pet with all the love you can give. Treat him/her like a part of your family. Feed him/her well to because food is one of the factors which will create a bond between you and your pet.

Hi, savypat...season's greetings! Being a huge dog lover, and owner! I personally feel that there should be "a dog blog", a dog owner's pre-school, a "mean's test" as they do for perspective child adoptee's! I have seen so many "friends in fur coats" in all the wrong homes, for all the wrong reasons! All we have to do is look at the population in rescue centres! I think that people need to be aware, that homing a dog (or pet) of any kind is the same commitment as having children, and it should be screened carefully! If people didn't just get a dog on a whim, there could be a chance that we could put "puppy mills" out of business. Oh, gosh, savypat, you get me started on a subject that I am very opinionated on, so am sorry for the long diatribe! You have a great weekend! cheers!

I agree with what you say, that is one reason why I asked this question. Thanks

Thank you, thank you...savypat, for the vote of confidence and letting me rant a while! Just near me, on the Lower Mainland, Mission, B.C. just yesterday, a "puppy mill" was discovered with guess what...93 emaciated, puppies & parents! Guess what breed, chihuahua's & chihuahua crosses. The pictures are sooooo heart-breaking. The reason I mention the breed, as,as soon as a Walt Disney movie comes out like the Chihuahua one, then there is a glut of that breed on the market...from Puppy Mills....the one year later, they are all in rescue centers or at the SPCA! Ding, dong, darn-it, it hurts! Makes me just hug my doggies closer! Thank you....and have a special day! Cheers!
