What do you do when your phone rings and the person realises that they have rung

December 5, 2008 10:54am CST
If someone rings me and they realise they have rung the wrong number and they apologise I always say 'Thats OK. I had to answer the phone anyway' I get a lot of people laughing but some of them seem very puzzled.

For the last few months I've always gotten a wrong number call and like you, when they do apologize, I also say, thats ok! But there's one wrong number that I've gotten where the caller doesn't speak English and no matter how many times I say wrong number, she/he still keeps ringing. Next time they call I think I'm gonna ask them what they're wearing and then start breathing funny down the phone!

Try asking them if they are panda spankers if the heavy breathing does not work. If that does not work try looking up the word no in a lot of different languages and try them out. It is always handy to know the word no in other languages any way.

lol. I always try and sell 'em a set of Encyclopedia's! Either that, or it can be great fun to turn the tables and make out as if you have called THEM instead! Another approach is to repeat back to them every single word that they say themselves. If you want to REALLY annoy someone that you don't even know and never will, try the last one! They love it!

You are a fellow panda spanker wanderer! I could NEVER leave you out there in discussion wilderness! I just need to rally the troops to get some more spankers in them is all!

if the person on the other end is apologetic and wants to keep the phone in a hurry, then its ok with me,otherwise i give the phone to each and every member of my family especially my kids, who love to babble for long hours on the phone!!!

That is a great idea about giving the phone to the kids riyasam. I am afraid my kids have grown up and left home but I could always pretend to be one. Tahnks for the response riyasam.

Great answer! I'll have to borrow that one from you! I usually just say....it's ok. I've had a couple of wrong numbers that start chatting away and I end up finding myself talking with a complete stranger.

Hi there wanderer. I should mention that James's suggestions are quite interesting. I usually just tell them it's a wrong number if they call on the set phone in the house. If they call me on my cell more than once i will start just responding and closing the phone to take their money as trolls tend to bug me and if i release them of their cash they usually stop.

James is always full of good suggestions elitess. It does get annoying we a person rings the number more than once and I might follow your example next time it happens. Sorry I was so long in responding.

I don't really mind as it doesn't happen that often. I can imagine that people must be confused by your response, it is very funny though!
