What irritates you more - inefficiency or inaction?

I find that at times a person is well conversant with things but does not take any action, as he is too lazy to take any action. Some people are plain inefficient and no matter how hard they try they can not get things done. they jsut don't know how to go about things. They do want to see things to completion but it is beyond them. They just can not handle things. they always need someone to guide them at each step. They simply do not know how to execute a single thing in tright manner. Who out of teh two is more irritating? A person who is inneficient or a person who does not want to take any action? i find that a person who knows yet does to take action is worst than a person who does not know how to handle the situation. What do you think?

I'm with you, the inefficient person has at least tried. I volunteer quite often and find that lots of people are intelligent and have great ideas but few will actually follow through and make things happen. This is both aggravating and disappointing.

I would rather have the inefficient person because at least they care about what they are doing. The inactive one may be someone who is just scared to make decisions and so they do nothing rather than follow through with something and put themselves in potential trouble.

it has to be inaction people are always saying "if only" about everything when most of the time just sat back and let an opportunity pass by that bugs me you can have anytthing you want but you must do something nothing just comes to you

Well… I just simply do not know. My first initial gut reaction was, the inefficient person is definitely worse. Nothing is more irritating than someone that is always running around, busy, yet never seems to complete anything. Typically, these people are always complaining they have too much to do and never have enough time to get everything they need done. And then, as I read all the other postings, I began to change my mind. I guess that is OK, I have a great sense of humor about myself. Besides, somebody great once said, "it is a woman's prerogative to change her mind." I am not sure at this moment who said that but, it works for me. As I am disabled, and require help from others to do things for me that I can not do for myself, I have had experiences with both types of people. Ultimately, both personality types are equally irritating. Person A sits on the couch and complains about how the world is going downhill. They will be the first to tell you, "somebody should do something about that." However, the clear message is "but don't look at me." I think that I will change my reaction yet again (just because I can) this is more irritating to me personally. They are the first complainers, and yet the last to do anything to help the situation. The end result being, that no matter what attempts are being made to better a situation the " couch critic" is free to sit back and say what a terrible job everyone else is doing. None of the heat is ever on them because they never do anything. At least those that try, but are incompetent are in fact trying. They may not be successful but they're doing what they can. One of the mottoes that I live by is that as long as somebody is trying to better the situation there is always HOPE. Hope for change. Hope for education and hope for a better tomorrow! So, for me I guess it comes down to stop complaining unless you're willing to become part of a solution! OK, that's just my 2¢ worth. Do with it what you will.

I'd say INEFFICIENCY since inaction, being the opposite of actions that are sometimes ill-advised and counterproductive, is often the greater evil. An inefficient person almost never gets it right and by definition inefficiency has a damaging results of getting less out of a situation then would otherwise be possible. However, I'm also one to support outside the box processes that eliminate nonsense -- like paperwork, audits, etc. -- and to do thing differently now and then to see how other ways work. In short, I always favor active processes over those that require a series of inputs along the way that hold up action. For instance, I say sales tax over income tax. One is automatic and the other is a national nightmare. So there's my 10 cents. Of course, this needs to weighed in a context of a particular process but this is the foundation of my thinking in work and life! lol

Hello, mercuryman3a. I believe that the inactive person is far more irritant than an inefficient one. The lack of effort from the inactive person means that he/she will never get any task done. They have no motivation, they just won't do things. They are completely useless. Now, an inefficient person can still learn. They have one of the most important things while doing something, and that is effort. They want to see it done, they try their hardest. They still don't make it, but practice makes perfection. One day, they will learn. And then, they will become great people. It will just take time. We need to be patient with the inefficient and know how to guide them. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I dislike them both but I would rather see someone do something inefficiently than do nothing at all. Too many things do not get done until it is almost too late because of inaction on the part of people who do not want to take decisions. It is much better to see things dealt with and fixed even if it could be done more efficiently. Not all of us are efficient and I would never condemn someone for doing their best even if someone could do it better. It is better to be inefficient with a heart and caring for others than to be efficient and uncaring. I know which one I would rather have looking after me.

Hi mercury. For me both are terribles. But I agree with you that inaction is worst than inefficiency. Who wants to do things but doesn't knows how at least have the want to do something and we can teach them every time. It is irritating I know but we can get the things done anyway. Who is too lazy to do anything drive me crazy because you can die in front of this person without his take any action. Who is lazy only give troubles for the others and take place from the others. They don't have any utility for none. I know a couple of them and I think that these persons are like leechs. Have a nice day.

the person knowing better but refusing to do anything is the worst in my opinion.. ignorance is a problem when people dont know they are ignorant and even worse when people CHOOSE to be ignorant.. it kills
