Why Do Discussions Take So Long To Load Here?

It might be me and my Computer, but I do have High Speed Internet from Clearwire, so it cannot be my ISP I would think, but lately too many times when I try to access this site, and post back to a discussion and such, it seems like it takes forever to do so, and so I end up leaving here to try again later with not much better results. I personally think they need to speed this site up some. If I had dial up, I would hate to see how Slow this site would be. It is hard to be very active in here lately due to this the times I do have some extra time to post in here. Does anyone have any suggestions, or have you found a better time for you to post in here when this will not happen to all of us as well? Wishing you all the Best. ~~TINA~~

My computer has been loading up real slow also. I don't know why and I also have high speed internet through comcast. I was told that it was that to many people are on and it slow's things down I don't think so I think it has to do with the internet service provider. I will call them to find out what exactly causes it to be this way for I know it can be annoying.

It COULD be the amount of people using it, it's hard to say, but the yahooanswers website has way more people and they are not as slow as this. Maybe it's mylot's ISP.

I have the same problem when posting on myLot whether I use dial-up or high-speed internet. It isn't anything to do with my computer or software (for example, the same thing happens in Firefox, Internet Explorer or Konqueror web browsers). I think it has a lot to do with the traffic on myLot at certain times as well as the servers or web host that myLot uses. I asked a similar question in one of my threads a few of weeks earlier: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1787780.aspx I hope that helps.

Well, I personally think it is the amount of people who are in here at any one time as well. There are times when this site is loading with no problem, and then other times that this sight is Slower than a Turtle as well. I guess for me, I will know if it is this site or my Computer, ISP, etc. if other sites load OK and this site is Slow.

Everything seems fine to me. I'm on a Macbook Pro (10.5.5 Leopard) and Safari with Comcast as my ISP.... It could be your ISP - or spyware on your computer. Both are common issues with slow-loading websites. Michael http://www.biosyourlife.com

Yes, I've noticed that too especially during night time in my place. It is day time in the other side of the world and I can understand that many people are also mylotting at the same time so that explain the reason why it is slow. Now it is around 11.00 am here in my place and I find the speed is better. I noticed too that there are many newbies arriving at mylot and mylot should upgrade its monitoring capacity to accommodate for the increase. It wasn't like this before when the population is not that large.

Hi Tina, I haven't noticed any particular time when things are faster or slower here but I think it may have something to do with our own server combined with myLot's server that slows it down. They each have their peak times and I'm sure they combine at times to make things slow down even more than if only one was doing it. I have Comcast High Speed and mine slows down occasionally here, too. I notice it because other web pages aren't as slow to load. I can't think of any other reason for it to be doing that. Hope yours has sped up some by now!

Good day! We have the same problem. We are always encountering this problem. We asked somebody to fix it but nothing happened. I do not know what to do with our connections.

I've just traced the route from my pc to Mylot (IP address 69.20.112.85), it has 21 different steps (different servers) and 3 of them had packet errors (this slows down the transmission times, as it has to re-send them until the packets are received correctly). Bottlenecks can slow things down considerably. Things will be different if they ever manage to open up the new superfast highway is talked about.

There is a lot of things that could slow down the posting to discussions, including the way your computer is set up. You should check the configuration of it just in case it is that that is causing the problem. Even with high speed internet, there could be congestion on the route between you and the server. Try PcPitstop at http://www.pcpitstop.com/ for a range of different tests, including speed test, route trace, and measure performance between you and any internet site.

Hi, it's not on your end, it's mylot and it is always worse on the weekends. What I don't understand is why it's so slow on weekends, I don't think they have enough people working mylot to make sure everything is running smoothly. They must have a skeleton crew at these times. You will see how the speed picks up starting Monday morning.

I does take forever to load. I have highspeed DSL and I built my computer, it's very fast and smooth, I have a 3.2 Ghz CPU and 2 Gigs of DDR ram, it's not my computer, I know it, because nothing else takes as long as mylot to load for me.

Ya friend the same problem that i am facing with my pc and internet connection. It's really takes so much of time to load the site. If i started a discussion then i have to wait at least for 10 minutes. If i start responding to some one then it's the same thing. So too bad internet connection.

Hi Tina: I agree with you, in fact I think there are just too many people on here for them to handle ( server wise) sometimes its ok and runs smoothly and fast and there are times when I sit here and cuss it and or pray that my big old post is not gonna vanish into thin air, as it just sits here and stares at me, then suddenly it will move...AARRGGHH! I have DSL so like you I also know its not my system, I just think mylot has way more on here than it can handle or too many get on here at the same time, I don't know...but it can be frustrating!

I have the same problem. I'm using hsdpa modem and other pages load faster. I have the bigger problems with some (but not all) social sites that have large traffic. Reconnecting may help a little but I thing, servers are overloaded. This sites is too popular ;)

maybe it takes longer to post in the evenings due to increased traffic. but when i start a discussion and also upload photos,it takes forever to load.maybe it is one of mylot glitches. happy mylotting.

firefox tabs - firefox tabs allows you to open multiple discussions.
HI KrauseHome. Most probably you are using tabs. firefox tabs allows you to open multiple discussions. The more open tabs you have the slower mylot becomes. I had an occassion or two where mylot stopped working altogether. © ronaldinu 2008

I think I only experience that once, but I think that was our internet connection having a problem. I haven't experienced having a hard time loading comments or discussions so far. Maybe its because of the time that I am on mylot. Our time here is different from the US. Maybe when there are many mylotters loading discussions, then it gets harder to load.

I am also facing the same difficulty. I have been observing for the past few days that it takes times to upload mylot pages and it takes considerable time for new page to come on screen. I would also like that mylot could be bit faster, so that we people could post more and more responses of ours.

It does happen to me too, at times!! But i use broadband, not dial-up, so i don't know how dial-up's experience would be like. But when it happens to me, all i need to do is just do a simple clear of my cookies, my temporary internet files, and restart my router. Restarting the router will clear its logs and whatever stuff is inside (because a router is a tricky device with lots of computer stuff in there, haaha!!). But if you use a modem, then retart your modem (so i'll obtain a new IP address). Try getting onto MyLot again. It should work wonders. If this doesn't help, you might also wanna try rebooting your computer. Cheers man!

I have got dial-up and therefore, it is slow. I do not understand how high-speed internet can be slow.
