We have a family member that works at our local Ritz Carlton. Today we went to the family Christmas party for the employees. They had a buffet, Christmas movies like Rudolph for the kiddies. Including paint your own ornaments, ice your own cookies etc. It was a good time. Which is why I was incredibly surprised that my family is all feeling a little sick to the tummy about 5 hours later.
Would this surprise you? Would you tell your family member? We had such a nice time I don't want to hurt his feelings.

Hi Ersmommy - I would not tell this family member at all. After all, he wasn't responsible for the food and it was very kind of him/her to invite you. when I go to functions where there is lots of food, I make sure to choose wisely. for example, any food covered in mayo or any kind of sauce is a no no. You just cannot be sure that it is fresh. You enjoyed the rest of the time so just thank the family member and move past this. It would hurt the person's feelings and that is not a good thing to do. Blessings!

My boss tends to throw a Christmas party every year and, when he sends the invitation, I always feel like I need to go. The same would apply if a family member asked me to attend a Christmas party for them. Kind of supporting the family or extended family as appropriate.
In your case, I wouldn't mention the ill tummy. It isn't his fault and you don't want him to feel bad.

I would tell this family member that I appreciated the invite, but that we all got sick to the stomach afterward. This is food poisoning, at least it seems like, and its not your family members fault. This is something that may be continuing, and get out into the population, making many others sick like you were. This is a safety issue, and I would tell this family member so this can be corrected. I think that he would take it in stride, especially if you told him what a wonderful time you and your family had at the get together.

It sounds like a really nice function you and your family went to. I would not mention anything to my family member. Maybe, it was the excitement of the day, and a variety of different foods that did not agree with your family's tummies. I usually am careful what I eat when I go to different functions, because I never know how my stomach may react. Hopefully, whatever is wrong with them will run it's course and they will feel better by tomorrow.
