A police raid on a brothel in Ho Chi Minh City has found 130 women kept in dog cages. The women were forced to work from 9am until 3am the following day in the Vietnamese city, according to an article in the Thanh Nien newspaper. This article really made me sad. Is slavery abolished or no? http://www.metro.co.uk/news/world/article.html?Women_kept_in_brothel_dog_cages&in_article_id=437890&in_page_id=64

I do condemn the men who seek such services without realising that these women can be treated as slaves.

True. Such country has a poor women empowerment and protection. The law probably provides protection but then few good people tend to enact such law,

legally it may be abolished but the law has never stopped people from doing illegal activities throughout time, so slavery would not be any different either.

Slavery exists still today, yes even in the United States. Usually illegal immigrants supposedly working off their passage, of course they never do, stuck on farms and illegal brothels. Slavery is almost common still in isolated areas of Africa. Slavery has always been a problem, not just in the much publicized pre-civil war era of the United States. West coast indians in North America had slaves before the Euopean invasion. Middle Eastern countries had African slaves a thousand years before America exploited that same supply.

no, i d not think that slavery is abolished. it just hidden to the public, like for example they get young kids to work for them without even letting them eat or rest. There are also some instances where women and kids are being taken to other countries, and they are treating them like slaves. I can also consider, rich people making poor people (working class) work for them, a form of slavery. the poor people does the work, but the rich people are the one getting the benefit and credits..

There is nothing more cruel than the human animal. Those that kept these poor women in the dog cages should have to live in the same way for a year. it is astonishing that his kind of things goes on. It is so much worse because it happens to children too. As long as men are willing to pay for such things it will keep going on. I think that as the economy of the world gets worse so will such crimes. Revelations in the bible tells us that the heart of man will turn against his children and the hearts of children will turn against his parents. I think this is just the start.

No slavery is not abolished. Slavery has been going on for many years. I don't think we can ever do away with it when other countries still practice slavery as a way of life. I know of a lady that works with a friend who husband bought her as a young girl. he later married her. She is from another country. but now lives in the USA.

It depends on the country. When it comes the the law, it's illegal in a lot of countries. It still goes on, of course, even in America. Unfortunately, the selling of other humans into slavery is a big money maker - so it will never completely die out.

Hi ronaldinu, Apparently slavery is not abolished in every country, or it is easier to get away with such things in some countries than in others. It is a very sadthing to see happening in the twenty-first century when we have progressed so far in other ways. Blessings.

SLavery has never been abolished at all.. Just see from south africa to USA, skin color difference, racist, are part of slavery.. It's hard to stop them, because those 'slaves' are just a minority.. Moreover, slaves dun appear during the day, and things will always remain just as dark unless one managed to escape to tell their story.. That's how the world is, so cruel to the minorities..

You can not get reid of unfair practices by just abolishing things. Humans are fond of exploiting others, be it animals or other humans. If they get a chance and if the law enforcement is lax, tehy will exploit to any limit. Take terrorism for example. I don't think there is any need for a law to abolish terrorism, it is abhorrant to take another human's life, yet terrorism is on teh increase the world over. Itis not as though lack of educaiton is the cause of these problems. Are people like Osama Bin Laden not educated? Why do they coerce and motivate young boys to lay down their lives for a percieved wrong? Half the boys do not even know what they are fighting for. Exploitation will always be there as long as people have unbriddled power.

No still there are many women who are suffering slavery in many countries. Its really insane. We are now in a era of tech and science developed every well but still this kind of act is not abolished. Its not only the government duty to take action, its also a common people responsibility against such acts.It can be abolished only when every one is against.
