Does anyone have some killer soup recipes that are delicious? Me and my girlfriend have been making a lot of chili and other kind of homemade soups recently and I'm looking for some new ideas. Today we made chili with some jalapeno peppers, jabanero peppers, chili peppers, tomatoes, pinto beans, mushrooms, red onions, and beef. The soup was nice and spicy just how I like it and really good. Let me know some of your recipes.

I like potato soup - diced potatoes, onions and some ham or bacon cooked in a small amount of water until tender and water has mostly cooked away, then add milk and butter and heat to boiling. Some people put other vegetables in, but we keep it simple.

Thanks for the recipe I'll most likely try it sometime in the future. It really helps knowing how to make a bunch of soup because soup helps keep us warm here in Michigan. It's like hardcore winter here and eating soup and stews helps give you the inner warmness.

It's a very economical dish as well. We also make "leftover soup". Take a large plastic freezer container and whenever you have a small amount of meat or vegetables (I like to put leftover tomato sauce and broth as well) that you would otherwise throw out, put them in the container and return to the freezer. When the container is full, thaw, heat and serve your soup.

My favorite soup is called brunswick stew. Combine a whole chicken (pulled apart), with lima beans, corn, onions, & okra. Also in the pot put 2 cans of tomatoe sauce. It takes better the longer you cook it, so allow 2 hours for the veggies to soak in the sauce.

That sounds really good I've always been a really big fan of stews. This soup kind of sounds like this white chicken chili that me and my girlfriend made. I like stews to be nice and thick and usually be nice and wholesome. Thanks for the response.

I like to take some frozen chicken leg quarters and cook them slowly with a couple of cans of chicken stock. I add some celery onions and carrots for added flavor. for seasoning I add sage thyme and rosemary or poultry seasoning and some turmeric and ginger. I have just started adding the turmeric and ginger and find they add a nice color and flavor to a chicken soup. I then remove the bones and shred the chicken and remove the vegetables because by the time they are finished cooling they don't taste very good. I put the vegetables in the food processor to be added to something else for thickening agent. Now for the chicken soup I add noodles and a couple dashes of hot sauce. The hot sauce really bring out the other flavors to the soup. This is an awesome soup and using the leg quarters helps keep the expense down. you can also add some vegetable as carrots celery, onion and potatoes for chicken vegetable soup.

You will want to discard the first vegetables because they won't taste good. The hot sauce does give the soup some punch.

I like pretty much any soup that has vegetables in it and I like the blend of herbs that you are throwing into your concoction. I also like the idea of throwing some hot sauce into what sounds already like some super tasty chicken soup. I like a lot of vegetables in my soups so there would be a lot more vegetables in it. Thanks for the response I'll try this soup out soon.

coconut chicken soup. it is very good. Use chicken legs and use a cleaver to chop them in half and chop off the nuckle at the end. put canola oil at bottom of pot and saute chopped onions and ginger slices. Then put chicken in to brown a bit. then cover and let it cook for about 20 min in its own juices. then i would add a can of coconut milk and some water if needed. Add in some chicken bullion to taste. At the end you can throw in some vegies like fresh spinach or cubes of chayote. It is absolutely delicious. You can add some tumeric to give it a nice color about 1 tsp. You will love it!

This soup sounds really good thanks for sharing it with me. I love chili's especially italian style, white chicken chili, and the kind that me and my girlfriend made up today. I love the spicyness of chili and how it makes you feel nice and hot right to your core.

Broccoli and blue cheese soup - yep I know it sounds unlikely but it is a great combination. you can use left over broccoli if it is there, or just cook it in water as usual (or steamed, but keep the water for the soup). It needs to be cooked enough to puree easily, adding enough liquid to get the right consistency (liquid could be water, milk, yoghurt etc as preferred and available). Once pureed, add blue cheese (or ordinary cheese if not available) and season to taste (you'll need less salt if you add a blue cheese as it is quite salty!)

jambi462, You may want to try this special Cream of Mushroom Soup ++ Ingredients: * 500ml Water * 8 Button Mushroom, diced * 4 Shitake Mushroom, sliced * 15g Butter * 4 slices of Cheese * 1 tablespoon Flour * 2 tablespoons Water How to do it: 1. Melt butter in a sauce pan. 2. Add in the mushroom and saute till mushroom softens. 3. Add in the water and bring to a gentle boil. 4. Add in the cheese and stir to melt it. 5. Mix flour (1 tablespoon) with water (2 tablespoons). 6. When soup begins to bubbles, gradually stir in the mixture to give the soup a creamy texture. 7. Serve with bread. Note: * I do not add salt as it's salty enough with the cheese. However, if you find it not salty enough for you, add more cheese. * You don't have to use 2 types of mushroom. I used 2 types, more if I have, as I prefer different texture and like it more ingredient filled. I hope that you will like this and have a nice day in the kitchen.

I would but I've never been a real big fan of soups that are creams like this. I wasn't even a big fan of mushrooms up until a little while ago. I'm sorry that my taste buds aren't designed for your soup but thank you for your response anyway.

I usually have only three kinds of homemade soups that I make. One is potato soup, one is beef vegetable soup, and the last is chili. The potato soup is made by first cubing a beef roast or buying stew meat and browning it with garlic powder, celery salt, salt and pepper to taste. In the meantime boil the peeled and cubed potatoes along with chopped onion. When the meat is browned good, pour the meat and the drippings into the potatoes and let boil until the meat is tender. Then take some flour in a mixing bowl and dip out some hot broth from the soup to mix with the flour to make a thin paste. Also add some milk to the paste, but try to keep the paste hot because when you pour it back into the soup it won't lump up as easily if it is warm rather than cold. I let that cook a little longer and then the soup is finished. The beef vegetable soup is basically taking the beef and preparing it the same as you would the potato soup and with the same spices, but I brown it in the pan the soup will be made in and once the meat is browned I add water, any kinds of vegetables I like and have on hand, chopped or diced unflavored tomatoes, tomato juice and bring to nice boil until meat is tender. The chili I make following the recipe on the package of French's chili mix except that instead of tomato sauce, I used chopped or diced unflavored tomatoes and tomato juice. I use one package for every 1-2 lbs of ground beef. Sometimes I make it with macaroni added, but usually I don't. Sometimes I do the 5 way chili by making some spaghetti on the side and chopping up some onions and have some shredded cheese to top it with. I don't do that very often but might if I am having a lot of company. Occassionally I will make turkey or beef stew which is much like the potato soup but with carrots added. For the turkey, however, I don't add the garlic and celery salt. I don't like those flavors with poultry.

I see I'm a big fan of chili and beef vegetable soup but I haven't really tried all that much of potato soup. Your recipe does sound good though and easy to follow so I will be sure to try it in the future. Thanks for your response.

I do not know the name of the soup. Just something that I threw together and it tasted good. I took some cooked ground beef, and some can vegetables. corn, green lima beans, some onions,(You can improvise and use what you have in your pantry) and tomatoe paste and I missed it all together. I just let it heat up enough to make the onions soft and it is so good. I froze some and it even tasted better left over.
